Hi everyone, I am in desperate need of help here. I have such problems with blackheads, oil, large pores, and small zits on my nose. I usually do not have this problem but ever since about January, all of this has just come. I do not know what to do anymore. My skin is dry and I cannot use harsh products because I have sensitive skin. I am using a gentle cleanser, I exfoliate my face (concentrating on the nose area) about 2-3 times a week, eat very healthy, try to apply acne cream to my nose, etc. However, I have to apply thick moisturizers because my skin is so dry, and I have fine lines forming and I am only 19 years old. Therefore, my skin gets relatively oily quickly and my nose, well, it is incredibly oily and disgusting. I am not sure what to do. Please, someone, give me advice and/or products to use. Thank you, I really appreciate any advice. Kelsey |

THis may sound stupid, but go to the beach. the minerals in the water will help your skin without drying out your face. I used to have bad acne, but I rinse at least once a week with water at the beach and I just started using the product i mentioned in my other post. hopefully this last little bit of acne will be gone now too. Good luck finding what works for you!

that previous post is actually a good suggestion, ad funny as it sounds.. it actually works. If u cant get 2 the beach everyday tho, try some products with dead sea salt. the Ahava brand is a good choice. good luck! |

Hi Kelsey, It is a bit pity for your situation. I guess you have a sensitive and dry skin condition. I want to ask if you use some product to exfoliate your face or it just exfoliates naturally. If you use the products like scrub, it will definiely harm the skin in your face. Actually there is not enough moist in the deeper part of your skin. Therefore, you don't have to apply thick moisturizers on your face. The first and most important is to drink more water everyday so as to provide enough water to the whole including your face. Then you will have better skin condition. Also, you should use suitable skin care products. |

First of all, I would recommend checking out my thread below called "How to get rid of unwanted blackheads?" which describes all sorts of ingredients that are in products that can cause blackheads. I would also recommend going and getting your face cleaned at a cosmetician and there they can pop your blackheads/zits without scarring or irritating your skin. Then you are starting to take care of your skin on a clean slate!

I've found a really great antibacterial, NON-alcohol toner from a line called skoah, its called the turbo tonik. It has helped with my blackheads ALOT!! Ideally you should be using a toner for your skin after you've washed it to balance the ph level. If you don't tone after you wash your face and put a moisturizer on the oil from the cream will build in the pore and over time cause blackheads. Blackeads are bascially a build up of oil and dead skin that have oxidized and turned black. YUK! Therefore, keep the skin clean but don;t overwash. Cleaner, tone, moisturize....and check out skoah!!! |

Okay, you've got a number of factors that are coming together here. One - you're 19, therefore your hormones are going crazy and that by itself will affect your skin. Two - Blackheads, also known as open comedones, which look like small black dots, are caused by excess oil in the skin's pores that oxidizes and as a result turns black in color Three - you have multiple skin types, oily, dry & sensitive (sensitive is not an official skin type, however, it needs to be factored into the equation). The Beach is definitely your first port of call - that's if you live close to the sea. Short stays in the sun before 10am or after 4 pm depending on where you live is another step in the right direction. DON'T STAY IN THE SUN FOR MORE THAN 15 MIN. The next stet is using a daily skin care regime using natural products where possible. Don't use soap on your face, rinse your face with very warm water to open the pores and dissolve the oil, then use the cleanser followed by a non-alcohol based toner and finally a good quality moisturizer. Keep eating lots of fruits/vegetables and drink loads of water. Doing a good level of exercise is also advisable, because it stimulates the blood circulation and thus helps the skin get increased levels of nutrients in the blood supply to the upper most levels of the skin. Hope this helps Cheers Smokey |
