Default Been depressed for a long time. Please help with acne problem.

I am a 17 year old guy living in Singapore. Since I was 13 years old I had been suffering from, guess what, ACNE. Back then I was still ignorant and I used to scratch the ugly white bump on my face whenever it appears. Now, the scars are still visible. These past few months, the acne problem is getting worse and worse. As I'm getting older, I'm beginning to be more conscious of my looks and the acne, the red spots and the dents have caused me to be feeling more and more depressed. Sometimes, I make excuses not to go out so that people would not see this ugly face of mine. Even when I go out, i would look at the floor and prevent lifting my head up.

I have tried going to a dermatologist but whatever he prescribed me hasn't been working and Ive already been using it for about half a year already. White bumps appear on my face, at one time there were more than 5.

I've scoured through the internet and I have found many tips but many seem to be contradicting. The first post can say not to apply soap and your face and the next post can say to wash your face with soap everyday.

Please advise me on how to get rid of the dents, the constant appearance of the pus-filled white bumps and especially the red spots. Help for the fastest way to get rid of these red spots would be greatly appreciated.

Hello young man!
I am sorry to hear that you are depressed over the condition of your skin.
First of all, in order to "get rid" of the acne, you have to have a consistent skin care routine with the right products for your skin's needs and not one that you use just a couple times a week. Skin care for those with oily problem skin such as yours is an ongoing process and one that needs extra attention to begin the healing process as well as maintain it. Stopping a good skin care routine allows the condition of the skin to reverse itself back to the original problems.
Follow the steps below faithfully to see your skin's condition improve dramatically.
1. Drink water whenever you are thirsty since it will help to maintain the moisture level not only in your body but in the skin on your face.
2. Use the appropriate products rated for your skin type (oily) and condition (acne prone).
3. Use the products in the order they are given.
A. Wash your face with a soft cloth or with your hands using an oil free foaming cleanser am and pm and whenever you may sweat or use oil blotting wipes in between. (Be aware that scrubbing vigorously may cause more oil production which you don't want.)
B. Use a clay based mask pm three times a week for a month (This will clean the pores of oils and dirt) After a month go to twice a week.
C. Use an oil free exfoliator twice a week pm to keep dead skin cells away from the pores. This will also help the skin cells to repair themselves faster.
D. Lastly apply an oil free moisturizer to keep the skin cells from turning over so quickly to become debris on your skin. (Oil and moisture are two different things. Having oily skin does not mean that you have enough moisture in your skin.) Also, your moisturizer should have SPF in it to prevent the radiation from damaging your skin. As a rule radiation damage is not seen with the naked eye, so it can be there and you not know it so always apply moisturizer or sunscreen when going out of doors.
This is a simple regimen to follow and should help get things moving. But please be consistent in order to see results.
As far as the dent and marks on your skin, there is not a product that will help (over the counter) that I know of. However, once you get contol of the acne, you may want to look into dermabrasion. Talk to a specialist first to see if it will do the trick.

I understand what you mean about the the contradicting acne advice. One sight will advise you use a toner, while the other suggests you do not. So confusing!

Here's a link to some info I posted last year in the anti-aging forum:

Most of what ails you can be cured with a colon cleanse. I'm not talking about a colonic, I'm talking about all the residue that's built up in your intestines that can be eliminated with a colon cleanse.

Unfortunately, you will get different advice in the same way that if you asked a dozen people how to cure your headache, you'll be told to lie down/ take Ibruprofen/ put a vinegar rag on your forehead etc etc.

All these things may work - but not necessarily for everyone.

FashionSenseClub hits a few "nails on the head" here.

You must have a consistent skin care routine. Don't flit from one thing to another. Choose your routine carefully, taking account of diet, water consumption, skin cleanliness and skin products.

Run with the routine in a strict fashion for two weeks and then evaluate.

Too many folks expect an expensive magic potion to give an instant result - just because it's expensive. Don't be fooled by hype - there's some good, solid information you can get on this forum - use it and set up your routine TODAY!

Good luck

Jan

Haha, I did that too. Well, actually girls don't mind about acne. They have it too! Try being not stressed out, relax and calm yourself, think about the positive things. Take good care of your hygiene and I mean really take good care of it. Don't play around and shower regularly! Twice a day is good. Especially man with body odors! Just do what you do best and no, people don't think your ugly..

A lot of times when we are dealing with cosmetic issues such as acne we get really angry and frustrated, then we hear about some amazing cure. When that cure doesn't work after one or two days of use we become disillusioned and start searching for the next cure. The truth is it takes weeks, if not months, for something to work. So stick to something- usually it gets a little worse before it gets better.
