Getting married in May...

Im getting married in May and I have suffered from cystic acne for about 5 years now. Nothing seems to help!!! Ive tried chemical peels, proactive, obagi, MD formulations, and countless others! Ive also tried birth control too... Ive never tried accutane... but my health insurance is up in Feburary! Please help! Im running out of time for my skin to heal... Dealing with bad acne is hard enough on a day to day basis, but having it for my wedding day would be devastating... Thank u for yer time!

Re: Getting married in May...

It sound like Accutane is next on your list.

You could go hard to work on your diet. I don't mean omitting all kinds of foods, but there are a few tricks that has helped many. By adding an omega 3 oil to your diet, and an anti-oxidant supplement made of vegetables, preferably a combination of several types. Drink a glass or two of vegetable juice every day. I don't know what kind of brands you have available near you, but I swear by some milk acid fermented juices which includes root vegetables like celery, beet root, kale. It doesn't sound very nice, but together with tomato and others they really are not bad at all. All kinds will work.

I promise this is no joke or silly advice (!!!!!), it will really show up in your skin, but you have to get started, and give it around three weeks for it to show effect. Don't eat too much dairy products.

Best of luck!

What kind of peels did you have?

That sounds great! Im all for all natural stuff! I have whole foods and new leaf near me, so if you knw a tastey brand ill get on tht asap! I think that they were silisalic (hwever its spelled) acid peels... they burned like heck and made my skin peel pretty intensely. Thank u for your suggestion!

Re: Getting married in May...

It might have been salicylic acid peels, and they burn, at least the 20% ones LOL. I do weekly lactic / salicylic peels and it really helps my skin. If you had them done once a week for 4-6 weeks and you didn't notice any improvement then go for something else. By that time your skin should have been clearing up.

Some use vitamin A acid creams with good results. It takes a few weeks or months for your skin to get used to them, and might not be the ideal thing to test and try too many things right now. You have three months and then results have to be optimal. There are several here on the forum that has solved acne problems with "retinols" and they can give you more detailed info.

I like these juices from Beutelsbacher, but I'm in Norway and here are mostly German brands in the organic range.

Oh I wish you the best of luck! I know how hard it is to battle acne!

For me acne-specific birth control pills are the thing that works best, but I see you have tried that already. So, accutane might be an idea now.

Oh and STAY AWAY from soy milk!!!!

Accutane sounds like the way to go, but you should not have a baby for a year after accutane. Birth deformities. Some people wait less time but better safe than sorry.

And CONGRATULATIONS of finding your teammate. I'm jealous

Using bronze and soft earth tones and airbrush as far as MU will do wonders for your wedding MU pictures (coming from a prof. photographer)! As for your skin in general...hon, there's no quick fix! Anything you do is going to take time to 'work'. Best of luck to you!
