Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

hey, since fawnie mentioned facial exercises have been reading up... there is some great info on utube in the form of vid clips from Carole Maggio (facercise)... she has her been doing her own program since she was 36 and now she is in mid 50's (I think!) and she looks amazing!... she even goes through some of the moves that you can try...she says you can change your face in 3-5 days!!

also looking at the FlexEffect before and afters that fawnie mentioned has put a v.positive spin on this as an alternative to surgery.

Fawnie: has the program that you are using got any good exercises to help the labial-fold lines disappear? Am confused as to which one to go for, am really eager to get started now! lx

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Fairy, yes FlexEffect has some good exercises for the NL lines. I do a combination of FlexEffect and Ageless If You Dare. The massage part of both programs is very important also in firming up the face.

Yes, I've read all the blahblahblah negatives about facial exercise and that's fine...but I love it and I'm doing it and I see genuine results. Let them laugh!

I noticed the vertical lines you're talking about too. When I step up the massage part of the FlexEffect program it helps to fill out the area more and tighten the skin under the eye. I can't write about it or I'd get into copyright infringement trouble. But vigorously massaging the entire facial skin is important to its circulation and strength. And doing the cheek exercises to fill them out could sure help too. The whole face is a network of muscles, so you don't just want to do a few exercises, you want to work the entire face!

What benefits have you seen with Eva Fraser? I don't know that one...just the eye exercise, which I think is the best of any program.

I'm really glad to hear of another confirmed exerciser here! Once I started seeing results I found a way to work it into my day and now I don't feel complete if I haven't done my "routine". You're right, it could be easy to forget it - but it takes commitment and remember: it's a whole lot easier and cheaper than surgery!

I'm more than happy to message you every day to remind you about it!!! haha!
Oh no, I haven't been regular (as you have) with any Eva fraser - but google for her pics if you can. She's in her 80's now and still teaching facial exercise in London. She ended up with a very full, toned type of face, due to her exercise regime - which has always reassured me, because too much of the wrong exercise can make one gaunt I think.

I suspect most of these exercise programmes are basically the same and have borrowed from one-another anyway.

If you say you're pleased with your progress, that's incentive enough for me!
Have you heard of Emma Hardie BTW (London also I think). She is a great proponent of facial massage as a means of sculpting the face. I find that very interesting as a form of toning, but would probably mix exercise and massage anyway.

ATM all I do (when I remember) are the eye one you mentioned: a forehead one (fingertips placed firmly on skin at forehead hairline - hold - and pull down against the finger grip for a count of ten. Release. Repeat 3 times, and do it daily; and a jawline one = rest jaw on clenched fist - push tongue against gum just above the front teeth, hold for count of 10, release and repeat 3 times. Here you are using the clenched fist as a resistance aid.

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Hi Semayden,

I like the results I am getting too from exercise and massage. As a face ages, it does become more gaunt - the muscles become lax and the fat pads slip down to the jowls. As the cheek musculatures becomes more toned, they lift the jowls and NL folds, is the premise of Ageless If You Dare..

Louise Annette - FAQs and forum

Her exercises are intense and concentrated. Her routine doesn't take as long as FlexEffect- 15 min/day v. 40 min/day but she doesn't work the entire face. I do a combination of both programs plus massage. You are so right! Massage is very important to toning the face! The more I do this routine the less cosmetics I need now!

I haven't heard of Emma Hardie, but I'm always open to finding out more about exercise/massage. I will check her out.

Keep doing them girl!!! Work that face!!!

Yeah I'm a little skeptical about that too....I would say "Help your face in 3-5 days" but not "change", no. But then, I haven't tried her program.

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

I've had a memory blank! Somewhere here I thought I saw a massage routine that involved massaging the face in small circles from chin outward to ears and progressing up the face in that manner until you reach the forehead.

The number 12 was mentioned, but can't remember in what context. Help?

Or have I seen it on another site? Bother...

Semayden
Hmm, must've been another site you saw the massage routine, but yes, that is ONE of the massage techniques! You really have to go over your entire face and don't be chicken about massaging thoroughly and pinching the tissue. This is reported to help stimulate collagen production!

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Hi Everyone,
I've really enjoyed reading your posts. I'm very interested in and have recently started facial exercises. Fawnie, I bought LouLou's Ageless if you Dare last Friday and did all ten exercises per session, Saturday and Sunday. I took today "off" given her recommendation to take a break. You claim that massaging the face is an important part of the lifting, toning and firming benefits of face exercising. How often do you do facial massages? Do you think the massage techniques in the Ageless program are best?

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Well GOOD ON YA! Patti! I think LouLou's massage techniques are great! Don't be afraid to get in there and work the tissues. Go slow at first so you don't bruise yourself, but once you get a feel for it, you can really stimulate the skin to produce thickness. I massage every day.

If you feel your face now, before you get too far along, you will see how thin and lax it feels (at least I did). As you go you will be delighted to feel it plump up and feel more substantial. That is very encouraging and will keep you going!!!

Good luck and please post your progress! LouLou has a forum herself if you need advice or have problems...She responds herself! Nice lady and pretty too. Did you see her before/after pics? Good, huh!

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Hi Fawnie,

Thanks for the reply. I just finished my third day of Ageless exercises. I haven't yet noticed changes in the look or feel of my skin and face, but I love these exercises! I can feel my once dormant face muscles working out! I've been massaging my face and neck after I do the exercises. I'm not sure if that's the best time to do it, but it feels great right after. Any thoughts there?

How long after you started facial exercises and massaging did you begin to notice the lifting, plumping of your cheeks and a more substantial feel to your skin? Was it all at once or a little here and a little there?

I've been to LouLou's forum several times. I've also been to the Ageless if You Dare forum on EDS and I've seen your posts there, which I've enjoyed reading. I haven't posted on either yet. I've mostly been researching and educating myself about facial exercises over the last month. I truly believe that after all the positive testimonials I've read and before and after photos I've seen, facial exercise works! And to answer your question, yes, I've seen LouLou's before and after pics. They are quite impressive. I would never have guessed she's 46.

Oh, one last thing. I took close-up photos of the problem areas on my face that I want to improve last Saturday morning before I started the Ageless exercises. I plan to continue taking monthly close-up photos of the same areas in similar lighting to visually measure my progress.

Take care,

Patti

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Hi Patti

Great idea about taking progress photos! I look forward to seeing your pics on the boards along with all the other success stories!!!

You know, I don't know how long it took for me to see the dramatic improvement. I believe it was about 4 months, and that was with FlexEffect, which reports say takes longer to give noticeable results than Ageless. Just one day I was putting on makeup and noticed, "***"DANG! I"VE GOT CHEEKS!!!!!!!!"

I switch back and forth between the programs (Ageless and FE) and add/delete exercises depending on how my development is going. You will get a feel for it and be able to tell if/when you are overbuilding an area. It's exactly like body-building. Not everyone responds the same way. It does take a while to get a feel for where to place the fingers and which muscle to isolate. You really have to concentrate and look at the diagrams to know where the muscle is. LouLou's vid is fun to use as a workout tool - I do them right in front of the computer with her! Did you download it yet? She also has a killer butt exercise!

I think massage after the exercise is a good idea - it disperses any lactic acid buildup and lessens any discomfort in the beginning. It really feels great to smooth on a couple drops of oil and massage with that!

I'm so happy that you started! I think this is one of the best things a person can do for herself. Too quickly we think "SURGERY" when we notice the sag - this is just a much better option! And ya know, once I saw how well my face was responding to exercise, I got off my butt and started going to the gym for aerobics and weight-training too! WIN-WIN!

Please let us all know how you are coming along, and stick with it! One day you will notice that all your hard work has helped!

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

Hi Fawnie,

I too think taking monthly progress pics is a good idea. If I end up with a good series of photos over the next several months, I'll definitely post them on this forum and on the EDS Ageless forum. You say you've tried both programs and say it took you four months to see dramatic results with FlexEffect, do you think FE is better than Ageless? Just curious. I decided to try LouLou's program first for 3-4 months before I invest in anything else. Her skin is so smooth and youthful and the $10 investment fits the budget!

I know what you mean about getting the hang of where to place your fingers while doing the exercises. It's a little tricky, but I'm beginning to get the hang of it. And yes, I have LouLou's video and it has helped. I'm a very visual person and watch it (start/stop) while doing the exercises. I finished my exercises tonight a couple hours ago and still feel the workout in my cheeks. I love the feeling of working those dormant facial muscles! I also use oil for facial massage after the exercises. I'm using Bio-Oil. What oil do you use?

Please let's stay in touch and I hope this will motivate me to go back to the gym too! Take care.

Patti

Re: Facial Exercise for firming and adding volume

I am just wondering if there is any facial exercise that get rid of chubby cheeks resulting in a slimmer face? I have always had a fat face if I may say no matter how much weight I lose.

Thanks in advance.
