Ingredients that a *best* product should have.

What a great question. I'm 47 and it looks like I raised chickens on my face since I spent so much sun time at the beach and in the mountains with little to no sun screen. Who ever heard of sun screen in the 60's???

I've taken a long deep look into anti-aging and skin care products over the last year as I opened my online skincare store and made some hard decisions on which products to carry. There are so many terrific ones.

So far, I've narrowed my lines into those that are natural or botanical, pharmaceutical grade, and the in-between lines. Rather than give you my opinion here of what I think are the best ones, I thought it would be more beneficial if I gave you information that is actually going to be in my next newsletter from Spikes Spa Secrets.

Here is some information that I think might help. Take a look at the ingredients and steps involved. Do your products you use have these key ingredients? Believe me, there may be more than those that I have listed. But this is a good start to restoring your youthful skin that you once had.

Typical Morning Regimen

Step One: Cleanse and Tone
Use a cleanser and toner as directed by your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package.

Step Two: Antioxidant Treatment
To protect create a barrier from free-radical damage, apply a thin layer of an antioxidant serum to the entire face, neck, and chest, avoiding eye area. Allow 3-5 minutes before applying additional products. Valuable skincare antioxidants include Algae, Pomegranate, Coenzyme Q-10, Vitamin C, Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Goji Berry, Ellagic acid, tannic Acid, and Green tea. These

Step Three: Hydrate, Lighten, or Calm
Apply a small amount of your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package. Lightners may contain albatin, diacetylboldine, lavender, methylmethacrylate, methylmethacrylate, Licorice, Hydroquinone,

Step Four: Moisturize*
Use a moisturizer as directed by your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package. Some key ingredients of top line moisturizers are Hyaluronic acid, You may also use a skin firming cream here in place of a moisturizer as most manufacturers have moisturizers in their products. Skin firming crèmes may have ingredients like ceramide 3 and 6.

Step Five: Sun Protection
Use a broad-spectrum a sunscreen as directed by your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package.

Typical Evening Regimen

Step One: Cleanse and Tone
Use a cleanser and toner as directed by your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package.

Step Two: Exfoliate
Use an exfoliator as directed by your preferred skincare product manufacturer and follow the directions on the package. Something that may have Alpha Hydroxy Acid, the most common forms are glycolic acid and lactic acid. BHA, also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid. The most common BHA is salicylic acid. Enzymes in the form papain (papaya) or bromelain (pineapple). Phytochemicals, bacillus ferment,

I love Wrinkle Raiders

New here,
I'm a 39 year old male and I've been using Wrinkle Raiders for about six years now and love it. I've become a bit narotic with it...never miss a day. It works though. I've noticed my skin looks better than when I started and it also has an almost immediate positive effect when applied. People say I look in my twenties. The three main ingrediends are vitamin C ester, alpha lapoic acid, and DMAE. All recommened by well know dermatologist Dr. Perricone. I get the product through wrinkleraiders.com under Puritan's website. It's a lot cheaper here than I've seen it a natural food stores. That's the only place I've seen it outside the web. They also have a half price or a buy one get some free deal going. I also ALWAYS use a sunscreen when I go out during the day. Good luck all, Glen

Re: Which anti-aging products do you like?

Wow! That's such a hard question because different anti-aging products will work for different people + different skin care concerns.

It's really like a series of trial and errors until you find the perfect wrinkle cream for you!

i use vaseline for my face and chestsavers for my neck and chest area. I like to keep it simple and natural, not too many porducts or chemicals.

ant aging creams

I think everyone's skin is different. If your skin is parched and dry looking go for deep hydration, I love creme de la mer for a great moisturizer. I have super dry skin and even though I am approaching 40 I still get carded! I use this cream in combination with my anti aging creams that I have developed.
If you have a lot of sun damage and fine tiny lines get your doctor to prescribe some Retin A or Tazorac, this will really work.

Re: Which anti-aging products do you like?

Hi,

Isn't Vaseline actually petroleum jelly? Do you think it is safe to keep your pours blocked for such long periods of time? It blocks the skin from breathing. Please see the Wikpedia at "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_jelly", it can be dangerous for burns, which means that if it is on your skin when you are outside it could be causing more damage than you may realize. It may be drawing more heat to your skin which eventually will cause more damage.

Using petroleum jelly on burns: It should not be used on fresh burns of any kind, including sunburn. Petrolatum traps heat inside, worsening burns. After heat has dissipated, however, it can serve as a dressing for minor burns to soothe later pain.

Concerned.

Thumbs up Positive results

As a practicing cosmetician I believe that it is never to early to start taking care of your skin. I have many clients who are middle age and together we have experimented with many anti aging products.
A new product on the market that I recommend trying is called The Newtox Line Treatment by Lon Cosmetics. So far I am seeing very good results on clients. Check it out....and fairly priced.

I'm a natural nut so i use the Jai Ema's Skin Care Line. It's 98% Shea Butter everything else is olive oil, aloe vera, grape seed oil and vitamin E. I love it. My friends mom got me hooked and she looks great for 48 and 5 kids! i don't think you can really go wrong with natural.

Smile Anti-Aging Tips

There have been so many advances in skin care science in the past three years that it's almost mind-boggling. Botox and the fillers can work magic, but they're all expensive and must be done regularly. You can get the same results if you start soon enough (before you're wrinkled like an old billfold!) and follow this regimen: 1 Cleanse twice a day with a professional-strength (available only at physicians' offices and at medi-spas) cleanser for your particular skin type.
2 Apply a few drops of SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic to face, neck, decollete, and hands. 3. Then apply the same amount of SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel to the same areas. These products absorb quickly into the dermis where they work together to stimulate new collagen production and also correct damaged cells. 4. Apply a day cream or lotion or gel, depending on your skin type, with a minimum 15 SPF. Some great ones are Kinerase Cream or Lotion with SPF 30; One of SkinCeuticals sunblocks or sunscreens (depending on skin type and sensitivity); and NeoStrata's SPF 29 sunblock. All three of these are cosmetically elegant (don't make your skin white) and work very well under makeup. 5. At cleansing at night, apply a good night moisturizer and eye cream. Specific problems such as hyperkeratosis, rosacea, acne, etcetera require a personalized daily regimen recommended by either your dermatologist or esthetician. It takes longer for the right topical treatment to give you the quick results you get with Botox, laser, facial peels, and fillers but you'll get there--and you won't spend nearly as much money.

Skaplan91 - What is so special about the Newtox line that you recommended? Which company makes it? I am looking for an alternative to plastic surgery and looking for a product that may change my mind!

You're the only one who can decide happiness with a product

I've heard very good things about relastin. I've spoken with the rep who wants me to carry it as one of my product lines and may do that soon. It's a very good product.

Remember, the best product for you is the one that works and leaves you happy.

I currently use use the natural product line Youthfull Essentials as my cleansing and toning preparation products. Than I use DIVA DEVA clininical skin care products of Powser Peptide Serum, Reverse Instant Wrinkle Remover, and Restore as my daily regimen. Can I reccomend them to you. Sure. Will they work for you sure. But only you will be the one to decide if you will be happy with them.

Enjoy

Re: Which anti-aging products do you like?

Hi Lynn. The Newtox Line is produced by Lon Cosmetics. They specialize in the usage of Dead Sea minerals and vitamins. I was originally recommended this product by a friend that started using it and couldn't stop talking about the results. I've used other products from this company and they really do make the skin healthier looking and moisturized. So I ordered it for my clinic and have been selling it like crazy. So far the results are impressive.
Inside this Newtox set there are two active peptides:
1. Hexapeptides which gives a similar result to Botox by destressing facial tension which leads to the reduction of wrinkles.
2. Pentapeptide which increases the amount of Collagen and Elastin formed in the skin.
Each of the products feed off of one another and work together. You can check out this line on the Lon website....hope that helped!

Anti Aging Products

I have been using the Victoria Principal line of products, and have seen a difference in the crows feet that I have. Also my estetition ( totally screwed up that spelling ) said that she saw a big change in the moisture level of my skin in just about 6 weeks. I have been using it for the past 6 months now, and will continue to.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Re: Which anti-aging products do you like?

Avon has a new line of Anew products that is really good. I am a hairstylist and have been for 30 years and I have tried just about everything. The new Anew line is the best I have found so far and all of my co-workers and my clients love it too. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars. Ask anyone who uses it or check back with me if you need more info.

To help with those lines

Hello;
I wanted to offer another piece of advice. What really helps reduce the appearance of finer lines, help products penetrate better AND increase cell turn-over to be faster (a definite must when dealing with aging reversal) is Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHA's.

There are many strengths out there, but what really determined how strong a products is, is the pH number. I would suggest doing an AHA exfoliation at home (these have higher pH's to make them safer for home use...the higher the pH, the more alkaline, and the lower the pH, the more acidic) and it's useful to use them anywhere from 1 to 2 times per week. Please consult with your esthetician or Dermatologist. You can always supplement that with maybe peels from your Derm or Esthetician. Theirs will always be stronger than what you can do at home.

Something important to remember however, is that stronger is NOT always better, nor is abusing the AHA and thinking: doing it 4 times a week must be better than 2 times a week! I have seen so often people abuse exfoliation like this (again with an AHA, NOT a scrub) where their skin begins to thin out. When this type of product is abused like this, without allowing time for the skin to build back up, it actually creates more inflammation in the skin. This inflammation actually creates more free-radicals and we're back at square one.

I hope this helps and good luck with your products!

Esthetician Marcella.
