| | Sugar, diet and aging The High School Reunion Diet - Book Summary & Video
Thought this may help some of the newbies. Again, sugar is a major culprit ( along with unprotected skin in the sun ) that makes us look older.
Eat a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, whole grains and leave the bad carbs/sugars out and it will help your skin/health dramatically.

This is like the 'wrinkle cure' from Dr. Perricone. It's all about eating clean and advoiding as many processed food as possible. Alot of the nutrition bars that are suppose to be good for you contain hydrogenated oil, sucrose and other hidden things. One of the worst is Slim Fast if you take a look at their ingredients, and they do taste good.

| Yes, it's made from roasted peanuts and contains lots of bad stuff like hydrogenated oils. But it also contains unsaturated fats, vitamins, protein and resveratrol.

Well, depends on the peanut butter - I eat a tablespoon of peanutbutter a day - but its organic and contains 92% roasted organic peanuts, organic palm oil and sea salt.

store bought that has the hydrogenated oil is bad. I eat almond nut butter that has only almonds. For some it takes a little getting use to but it's really healthy. It also comes in different nut flavors. A good brand is MaraNatha that it's only ingred. is raw almonds, no added oils.

Organic roasted peanuts are still roasted peanuts. In my book thats a processed food, just organic and processed . Or am I getting this somehow wrong?
IMO best nuts are just normal nuts without salt, roasting, coatings and stuff. |

Hm, I guess you are right, but at least organic is pesticide free! Normal, non-organic nuts, toasted or not, are toxic bombs and noone should ever eat them.

There are some companies that when they roast and do not use any oil it's not considered processed. All it does is bring out a deep toasty flavor. You can do the same thing in your own oven. It still is considered clean eating.

I used to eat roasted pumpkin seeds (god there good) until I read how the roasting/heating alters the oils in the seed and turns it into bad fats. Same principle holds true for nuts.

Imho just dried pumpkin seed taste better than roasted, I love to crack open the shells, easier than sunflower seed shells b/c pumpkin seed are bigger and easer to handle.
But cedar nuts are my favorites, unroasted and pretty much organic, unless there is some weirdos that spray cedar pines with something. They have polyunsaturated acids, (linoleic and linolenic) and amino acids (argynine) and of course vitamins A, D, E, some B and magnesium among other minerals.

since being diagnosed a coeliac over a year ago I had to change my snacking habits. One new thing I discovered is raw scroggin. Yummo! Its just a combo of raw nuts, seeds and dried fuits. Very tasty, but can be fattening if you go overboard.

yeah, you probably could make it yourself. Just go to the bulk bin area of a supermarket or health shop. I buy pre packaged ones because they come in single serve packs - that way I can control my portions. And, they come with a couple of chocolate drops in them as well |
