30% TCA on hands

OUCH and @#$% I will let you know how it turns out. I did one layer it frosted a little. The right hand more than the left. Put on another layer after the first 5 min again the right hand went BIZERK frosting. Could only stand that layer for 2 min. Hopefully it will smooth them out and take off most of the brown spots. You betcha I am

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Wow! The whole hand or just spots, goat?
What will you do to recover? Neosporin, aloe or just tough it out?

Re: 30% TCA on hands

I am curious about this, Goatlady. I did a TCA peel (Perfect Complexion so I don't know the %..big secret) But I CAN tell you that it was a disaster.
The skin would not peel...I frosted and it stung like mad but for a week I walked around hiding that hand. When it finally did peel, the skin was pink for a day or so but gradually turned darker. My left hand is darker than my right and this is 2 months later. I think it's scarred...I know people do great with it on their hands but I don't know why mine didn't work. I hope yours is successful! Maybe I should have tried lactic acid...

what is the expected result if you just did "few sun dameged spots" and not whole hand or whole chest? would it even out? Is ut better to do all the skin?

hope you get the results you are after Goat

No you can totally do spot treatments. It all evens out. I have never had a problem. But if you are going to do your hands, you may as well do them completely. They are easy to do and is a little area. It takes time to get them to peel, but the results are very nice.

And Goat WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???? 30% from MUAC???

Re: 30% TCA on hands

yes. 30% from MUAC Rat. On the hands it is ok. This morning they are just crinkly like they are suppose to do. I would highly suggest NO ONE put it on their face at this %. Having said that one thin layer isn't that bad. On really bad sun damage like on my arms it is really needed at that %. Nothing else was budging it. The Tonique has lightened it a lot now tho. After that is gone I will use TAZ and RA gel at .01% on my arms. They look so much better now.

Normally on my face I just do spots, but on my hands I did the whole hand. Had to.....too many spots to try and spot treat them.

After I peel and it heals I will get aggressive with the RA at .01% on them.

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Danni I tried the TCA Latte from Perfect Complexion and that stuff was absolutely worthless crap on my mature older skin. It did absolutely nothing. I have had better luck with 50% glycolic. After I get the worse of my HP off I am going to try Lactic myself.

Re: 30% TCA on hands

I've used beautyscientific 50% TCA (from Amazon) on my hands. I have seriously sun-hp- eczema-damaged hands. I had to layer five times (only stopped bc I would get tired of layering), never did my hands frost but they did peel two weeks later. The hp wasn't helped any but the texture of my hands became smoother and therefore it was worth it. I used the TCA every three weeks for six months.

Lactic acid at 50% does nothing for me, no peel not even a slight tingle.

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Today very crinkly and wrinkled like a 90 year old lady. Every brown spot is darker. Should peel in about 2-3 more days.

I am using her TCA and I love it. I have peeled great each time I use it and pigmentation is diminishing. Glycolic acid did nothing for my pigmentation.

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Myka I think she has several TCA products but the one I tried the LATTE was worthless for me. Perhaps she has another one that is stronger. Which one are you using do you have a link for it. I hardly felt even the slightest tingle with the Latte.

Hi, goatlady. I am using the complex one. Here is a link to it. I have done 3 already and my spots are really fading nicely. She has 1 stronger than this that I want to get next and try.

Watch out, Goatlady...that's the one I tried and it scarred the tip of my nose as well as my hand. There was a thread on her forum that said to do a tca peel on the tip of your nose because a cute pink nose tip is yourthful..well my nose tip was darker than the rest of my face for months after that peel and still doesn't look right.
maybe I'm just sensitive to the stuff but I think if you have a peel that you like, you should stick with it. It's not like a moisturizer or an eye cream where if it doesn't work you just get no results. This may leave you sorry!
Just my 2 cents..

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Absolutely Danni! I have been using the TCA from makeupartistchoice.com and have never had any problems. I intend to stick with what I know. You really have to go through a trial and error phase with TCA and that is why it really is best to start with a lower % and it always depends on your goals and your skin. We are all different in that respect.

Goat did you take before and after pictures?? If so I would LOVE to see them. No I would never apply 30% to my face, but ya know........I could do this to my hands........I just ordered the 21% TCA I am going to apply to my hands. I did 2 layers of 18% and had nice results, but I know if I bump it up a little more I will have even better results. Plus, when the weather is like it is now, I need to jump on board and get busy with the TCA before the sun comes back out-

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Hey Rat. I do have a before of my left hand on my profile page so I will post an after once they peel. Today they are flaking. It looks like they will not peel as I wanted them to just flake. I am sure I will have to do it again. Next time the 2nd layer stays on for the full 5 minutes. The right hand just frosted a lot more for some reason.

Re: 30% TCA on hands

Ok the left hand has peeled 99% just a few flakes here or there. The spots are MUCH lighter not gone but lighter but the most impressive thing of all is how smooth they are. Super smooth!
