| | facial sunblock Hello, My name is Christy.
Im waiting on my retin a to come in the mail and Im trying to find a sunblock that will work well for me. It needs to be noncomedigic (im a horrible speller). It also needs to be reasonably priced. In a year that won't be such a big deal...but right now it is. What do you guys recommend?

Yeah the one thing I don't like in NCN website is that for many products there is no full list of ingredients. In that case, there is only brief mention to some of the ingredients, I assume (not sure though) the active ingredients for the sun block are the conventional ones used in most products

| I called the number reported on their site some time ago to ask some information about some of their products and the lady that answered told me the botox is also a complete sun screen. She did not tell me the ingredients though ( I did not ask).
It is strange that Nanci would sell a product claiming it to be an effective sun screen while not being so. I know that she only sells products that she has tried and that she found working well.

You can also try La roche Posay as well as Vichy, they are both great and are under 30$. I use the #60 and it's pretty darn good, my face is sensitive lots of things make me break out, but neither one of these do.

| Do those two peel off (so that you can see white particles), when applied on top of other products? This is my major problem, that all those I've tried so far peel off if I either touch my face or if I sweat even just a little

I used Neutrogena Dry Touch for faces with SPF 85. I love it! It does glob up or appear whitish. It sinks right in and my makeup goes on over it lovely! I highly recommend it. I bought it at CVS for about $10.

I just found this rather alarming article about Octinoxate. Sunburns and Sunscreens Part 3 |

| | Re: facial sunblock Yes it is scary indeed, there have been concerns about Octinoxate for a while but it is really in almost all the sunscreens and sunblocks even the most expensive and the most popular.
Wikipedia says: One study performed in 2000 raised safety concerns about octyl methoxycinnamate by demonstrating toxicity to mouse cells at concentrations lower than typical levels in sunscreens However, a more recent study concluded that octylmethoxycinnamate and other sun screening agents do not penetrate the outer skin in sufficient concentration to cause any significant toxicity to the underlying human keratinocytes.
Now the first thing I thought reading this was: "well, then if we have to just hope not to absorb a lot of the lotion we put on, why should we apply in first place?"..
I have yet to find a sunscreen not containing Octinoxate, if someone knows about one, please advice.
Also, about Mexoryl, recently introduced by some companies (I think L'Oreal patented it): this is what dr. Pickart reported about it: Mexoryl very complex molecules absorb large amounts of energy. While they are said to be photostable, this stability is just relative. Underprolonged UV exposure they will also breakdown. While such breakdown may be less than with older sunscreen chemicals, they still will generate toxic breakdown products that will get into your blood and tissue.
There is not real evidence that such products reduce skin cancer and some studies suggest that sunscreen chemicals actually increase cancer.
And plus all of the products I have seen so far containing Mexoryl, also contain Octinoxate..
There is an interesting page on wikipedia about Sunscreens controversy Sunscreen controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think it is a BIG issue because from one side we are advised to always wear a sunscreen to protect from the many UV radiations from the environment, from the other side chances are that we accumulate little by little toxic stuff.. |
