| For those that can't use Retin-A...
...what is the next best thing? My sister is having some problems with wrinkles, sagginess, general mid 50s skin after years of sunworshipping! She has tried Retin-A, and after six months gave up b/c she never got passed the redness, pain and peeling part. I don't know what to recommend to her. She has no insurance so going to the dermatologist is out of the question. She's been laid off for several months. I'm trying to find her a cheap alternative. If she can't use the Retin-A, do you think the DIY Vitamin C would work? Help???? Thanks!

YEs, the DIY C serum would most likely help. Start at 15% and work up to 20%. http://www.skincaretalk.com/diy-skin...t-sources.html

Msfancy I know you are looking for a cheap alternative, but......green cream works great!! Isn't cheap, but works well- Trying the Vit C serum would be definitely worth a try too like Fawnie suggests.Green cream is a retinol cream that isn't as harsh at Retin A. Advanced Skin Technology

MsFancyPants, another option is Carotein Nourishing and Fairness Cream. LightenNLift can't say enough good things about it. http://www.skincaretalk.com/skin-lig...ess-cream.html Read post No. 3, disregarding the first part about the F&F suntan removal cream. Also there is this thread from the Skin Lightening board. Goatlady mentions Rosehip Oil here (post 11). It has an interesting article attached. http://www.skincaretalk.com/skin-lig...ernatives.html Last edited by karenannev; 02-08-2010 at 02:15 AM. | |

Copper peptides? For some they work really well.
