OK I know I've posted this before but I feel it is important. Before consuming large amounts of water please, please check with your doctor. People can and have died from water intoxication I have read on this extensively but everyone should make their own informed decision and I would urge anyone who believes it is essential to drink large quantities of water to help the skin should talk with their doctor first and work out how much would be a safe amount.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Thanks for the heads up Ivy, but the chances of suffering from overhydration are very slim. It would be really hard for most people to drink that amount of water, and at the same time you'd have to be partaking in strenous physical activity which upsets the salt balance in the body (in which case an eletrolyte replacement drink would be ideal, such as Gatorade).

Moreover, I don't think that excessive quantities of water are necessary for good skin, but a reasonable amount is necessary. I will continue to advocate the consumption of water, as the average north america doesn't nearly drink enough water. Once again, thanks for the heads up though and it is indeed a fact that retarded amounts of water will cause overhydration.

Yes, I am aware of this and I don't plain on consuming so much that
I jeopardize my health just for good skin.
A women put herself into a coma.
BUT she was fasting (water fasting), drank nothing
but water. Very dangerous indeed!!!

Thanks Ivy.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Another update:

Well, there is some slight pigmentation remenants from the brutal extractions of the last facial. I'm not too worried about it since its normal and will go away with time. They're actually not too bad, to the point where I wouldn't mind doing a photoshoot on short notice if it were required. I don't touch those post inflamatory marks with lime, lemon, or any other type of citrus fruit.

I'm with you, Ivy. A local radio station ran a contest where people had to drink as much water as they could in a certain timeframe. Doctors who were listening to the contest frantically called in and urged them to stop the contest. The contest went on, and before the radio program was over, one woman had died.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Guys, come on here. Let's use a bit of common sense. We're talking about drinking healthy amounts of water in order to promote healthy skin, not about drinking water until you die. No one here has even mentioned drinking water to the point of death, which is obviously not the objective, nor is it even to the point where you have stomach discomfort, which would occur a long time before you die from drinking too much water.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Freddy,

I have read this blog and many of your other posts and you seem to be far more knowledged in all things skin care than I am, but I am learning.

May I ask you a few questions...I am curious what your starting point was before this blog and what results you see now, based on the following questions, since these are things most poeple can relate to and compare to their own experiences.

How are you pores? Invisible, small, medium or large?
Is your skin normal, dry, combination, or oily?
Do you have suface lines? If so, several, some, very few?

Thanks
Eric

There is no point in starting to use common sense now. have you seen the opinion polls, nobody is using common sense now!

teacher, do you have any facts or is everything you post here, hearsay?

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

So, I'm not completely happy now with the products, well to be honest, I'm bored with them. I think I'm going to be changing back to the Tea Tree Oil line from The Body Shop; I'm going to report back once I pick my stuff up, which should be sometime this week. Hopefully. I also have another spa visit scheduled for this upcoming weekend. Good times...

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Another quick update. I'm going to create myself a diet, such as the ones that I do for my clients. I'll post up some of the food components in it and see how that impacts skin condition. Still looking forward to that facial...

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Wow!!! You do take good care of your skin. My skin care routine is the basic-cleanse, tone and moisturise and sometimes not even tone (which is very bad!) I personally am soooo busy with everything else that I feel as though I cannot give my skin the care it needs and deserve. My question is how do you make time for all of that????

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

I work as a personal trainer and professional model, so it's part of my profession. In fact, I write off all of my skin care expenses. It doesn't take as long as it seems, it's really a matter of seconds. It's almost like saying, it takes too long to brush your teeth, you know what I mean? It's just an extra few minutes a day. The only thing that takes long is the masks, but you can put it on your face and do other things as it works and dries.

I wasn't toning for a while, on purpose though, not because of lack of time. I find that sometimes it helps and others it doesn't. I'll report back with the results as I've decided to change product lines for a while and add in a few procedures.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

Ah right, my husband was a professional model and he had and still has a VERY strict skin care routine which he has passed onto my step son who is 14. When my life wasn't busy (which seems like a lifetime ago!) I also followed a lovely skincare routine and I was very disciplined with that. And I feel that, that has benefited me and I used to and still do receive compliments. My sister's skin on the other hand is terrible-I feel like taking her to the treatment room but she is very sensitive so I don't say anything.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

I was supposed to get a facial last week, which I rescheduled for this week that I'm going to have to change since I have a commercial to film in the middle of December and I won't be able to recover from extractions in time. I think that my skin is pretty good right now, so I'll tough it out and get a facial the day after the commercial is filmed.

I'm currently using the same stuff I was using at the start of my blog with the exception that the Vichy Homme Mag C has been replaced with The Body Shop - Tea Tree Oil Mattifying Moisturizer. I find that at first I didn't like it because it wasn't as liquidy as the Vichy stuff, but it is a gel and its designed for oily skin. I found that with the Vichy stuff I'd get oily and sticky in between the eyebrow area later in the day, while with this stuff it feels almost as if I have baby powder on my face. Nice and dry and not sticky nor oily. I used to use this stuff before for the longest time, and it feels good to be back on it. I'm going to gradually which all my stuff back to this line except for maybe the wash since the current one that I'm using has SA at 5% in it, while the other wash wouldn't have anything and wouldn't do anything except for probably over dry my skin.

Come to think of it, I probably won't which exfoliants either. I think I might just pick up the Tea Tree Oil toner and go from there.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

So, I still didn't go for my next Microdermabrasion sesssion. I have to film a commercial this week and I didn't want to go in there with a bloodied face. It's not looking too bad though, I'm pleased with the results so far. Will update once I film the commerical and do my next Micro session.

Re: Freddy's Skin Care Blog

jm,

Be an active individual, I go for the good ol' fashioned bar of soap. I know that Irish Spring is a harsh soap, but I love it because it actually leaves me feeling clean. I really can't do the bodywash and such as they just leave me feeling dirty and slimey.

I do have two caveats though for using soap. The first one is don't ever use it on your face, and the second is that once I'm out of the shower and dried I moisturize my face first and then my body second, but the main point is that I always moistruize my body after a shower. If you don't, you'll end up with dry, itchy skin.

Right now I use some Avon stuff just because it happens to be here. My mom brought over a whole box she ordered from her Avon lady so that's cool with me. I've used Vitamin E gel before as well as Cocoa Butter.
