What is your diet like? Usually diet can make a big difference in how much oil your skin produces.

I have the same problem, though most of the oil that accumulates on my skin comes from my nose and upper eyebrow. After researching online and testing products on myself, I found the best thing that worked for me was: (1) Cleansing my skin twice a day, morning and night. Overcleansing caused more oil. (2) Using a toner after cleansing that tightened and thus made my pores appear smaller. I use witch hazel which is cheap and effective. It cleanses my skin wiping away any excess and small debris as well as tighten my pores. I also like the Proactiv Toner which has glylocic acid in it too which is nice. Make sure not to use a toner with alcohol as alcohol dries skin and thus skin produces more oily. (3) Use oil blotting paper when your skin gets oily. Use it whenever necessary. It can be a hassle, but it helps if your skin gets really oily. (4) Use an oil free and light (allergy tested, non-comodegenic) moisturizer. Contrary to popular beliefs, even if you do have oily skin, you do need to use a moisturizer. Use more on areas that are dry or combination and less on areas that are oily. In the end, oily skin ages better than dry skin thus we're more likely to get less wrinkles and skin damage now as well as later in life if we take care of our skin now, even if it is shiny and oily.

I have had trouble in the past with oily skin, it's a blessing also, you won't wrinkle as bad... have you tried one single product ? and believe it or not you may need moisturizer.... I got on Mary Kay product (Time wise) I could not believe the difference... I cleanse my face 2x a day, with the product, then exfoliate 1 x week... it has been awesome for me. It leaves my skin very soft, and when I apply my foundation, it looks and stays fresh all day. Be glad to share info.

I don't have oily skin, but have been using Erno Laszlo for a long time and I know that they have products for oily skin. You can get a regimen for anything from super dry skin to super oily skin as well. I would check them out. They will give you some free samples to try as well if you go into the counter (they sell at Nordstrom, Saks and some other places that I cannot think of).

Yes, a lot of the big name stores sell these products. It just depends on how your skin in particular reacts to the product.

Kate Somerville has a great skin care line for oily skin...and the good part is that you can call them and get FREE samples to see if it works and they have skin care consultants that you can talk to and they are really helpful

I, too have oily skin in places...actually true combination skin with most of the oil collecting on my forehead with some on the nose and chin. While you're trying to find the right combination of products to solve your skincare problem, blotting papers are great for removing the oil without removing the makeup from your skin. They give a much cleaner appearance to the skin compared with using a tissue. |

You should try a mud mask (some call it clay mask). Mud absorbs oil (the dark ones are better). If you are not the face pack type, regular use of hot water and soap actually could keep the skin fairly dry. But use very warm water and a de-greasing soap like Clearasil or Neutrogena oily skin formula. Warm water clears oil far better than cold water. Millie |
