I always thought that it was a myth that foods can not cause acne??

i think that food does not directly cause acne but your diet can affect your hormone levels and body chemistry so its a good idea to be healthy. one rule of thrumb is to stick with alkaline foods. which pretty much gets rid of dair, red meats and pretty much anything that actually tastes good.

I have read the reports that now state food is not a factor as far as acne is concerned. I am way past the acne age. Actually I am also past the hormonal blemish problem, but I have extremely sensitive skin. Most of my sensitivities show up on my face. I do know this. If I eat more than my fair share of chocolate, it shows up on my face in a day and 1/2. So I think that food can be a factor if you have those specific sensitivities. | |

| Re: foods to avoid I kinda went on a sort of diet for no reason. Anyways, for abot 2 to 3 weeks I didn't eat any junk food or sweets or fried foods and my skin was so clear people were actually starting to notice! But then I had a really bad craving and started eating junk food and sweets and fried foods again and my blemishes came back! So what I eat does affect me in a way...

Excretory system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Having made that brief statement, I've found that a healthy diet, plenty of water, and ensuring you "eliminate" regularly is helpful to maintaining healthy looking skin. If not those toxins (sitting in your system)may try to escape though your pores and often show up as zits. From my personal experience you can avoid breakouts, especially around that time of the month by being careful about what you eat. Minimize your consumption of foods that are over-processed, by avoiding fast-food joints, red meats and pork, as they ?sit? in your system (decomposing) longer. Salads are your friend. 21-days is the magic number, usually it takes that long to see improvements in the skin. Try eating lighter meals and easily digestible foods (fresh) more often. After you achieve desired results, slowly introduce your favorites/regular meals back to your diet, the ?flare-up? triggers will be easily identified. ** For me it was Pork and the Big-azz Texas burgers I often had for lunch)

There has been no scientific proof that what you eat has any affect on your skin. Although a lot of people will tell you otherwise and insist that when they eat unhealthy it affects their skin. For a rule of thumb avoid anything white (e.g white rice, white bread, white pasta etc) and replace it with brown foods (e.g. brown rice, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta etc) Increase your intake of greens and various fruits. Avoid refined foods. Even cutting out dairy has helped some, depending on how far you're willing to go. | |

I know that drinking water and avoiding soda helps keep my face much clearer. There has been times where I drank so much soda for a week and my face just went crazy.

i agree with sara. any refined foods, processed sugar, chocolate, white starches, any of that can aggrevate acne.

That's kinda impossible! I would prob. croak over and die! I love sweets n chocolate too much plus I LUV white rice!

lol well i do too but eventually you get used to it. it depends on how severe your breakouts are to depend on how imporant it is to you. if your breakouts were as bad as mine you would probably also live on veggies, fruits and meat and whole grains too | |

I'm not really alergic to anything. Only slightly lactose intolerant if it counts.

| Re: foods to avoid It used to be horrible when I was younger. I would react in like 15 min within eating anything dairy. its not as bad now but I still try to stay away from dairy foods which is very hard!

i read an article about how if you eat a yogurt or something with lactose in it regularly, everyday, within a year you should no longer be intolerant. thats too hard for me. and besides the only time i could do it would be at night before i go to sleep HA ha.

| Re: foods to avoid A friend of mine was lactose intolerant but he was on some medication and kept eating milk stuff. Now he doesnt need the medication anymore. So I guess its not a permanent problem.
