You should warm up a little when you exercise. It depends what you are doing but you should warm up by doing something slow, whether it is stretching or just starting out slow. When I do stair climber I just start it slow for a while, build up to fast, then slow down at the end. When I was in pilates class we had stretches at the start and at the end for cool down.

I think you need to stretch both before and after. I enjoy the stretching more after b/c after you've run a mile (or whatever you do) you are soooo much more flexible.

I also found that streching is good if you have trouble sleeping. Cause usually when you have trouble sleeping is cause you are too tensed. But when you stretch your muscles relax. And also because o fthe pain you get when you stretch, endorphins get released that make yu feel well.

stretching is best to improve blood flow and for good night sleep. Oh, and don't forget to have a warm glass of milk before going for sleeping.

There is a lot of dispute about when the best time to stretch is- but I think you should do it before and after. I do it before because it seems to make my workout a LOT easier and after to give my muscles some relief. It can't hurt.

Yoga and Pliates offer great stretches and toning for the body. If you are able to and have a YMCA near by I highly suggest joining. They offer many different work out classes. My favorite is Bodyflow. It is a combination of yoga, and pilates. I've had amazing results with this class.

Yoga and pilates is not only wonderful for stretching but also your back and spine. If you are able and have a YMCA near by I highly recommend becoming a member. The offer yoga and pilates classes. The also have a really unique class called Body Flow, it is a combination of yoga, pilates and Tai Chi.

i go to a lady that offers stretching as one of her correctional services... she ties my ankles to a solid object and my wrists to a type of wooden screw...with each turn of the screw i am stretched ever so slightly......she assures me this is a very old method practiced in england in the middle ages and was used to great effect.....it had the effect of the user being able to find his inner peace(so she says)... it works for me,and is best when i am totally naked except for a leather mask...this heightens my sensory perception..... i hope this helps |

How about yoga? I tried it for a while, but didn't work out for me. I went with an upset stomach, had some issues in the class, and didn't have the nerve to ever show my face there again.
