MSM to even out skin tone ?

I have recently started taking MSM to even out my skin tone (and get rid of my melasma).
I'm currently taking 3000mg a day, wondering if its enough or if I should take more ??
Has anyone had any success with this ?

Also have been using Meladerm for the past 2 months - evenings only as I find it too greasy to use during the day - but progress has been really slow.

Hoping that taking MSM will speed up the process.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

Have you tried taking vit C with the MSM to increase its benefits? Seems like this works well.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

Hi All,

I have been on MSM for the last 2 months now (10mg)+1500mg Vit C + GFSE + Multivits+Acidophillus.

Nothing seemed to have worked so far. I am holding on for a while to see if anything changes. Topical treatments did not work at all.

I will be grateful if anyone can offer me any advise in this regards.

Thanks in advance.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

they say melasma is more a fungal issue than anything else. Go to your local health food store and ask them to put you on an Anti-Fungal protocol.

I have indeed had success with MSM powder. However, I do think that you aren't consuming enough of it. I started of on 3000mg and worked my way towards 15000mg or more. I have to say it works very well with vitamin c as a previous poster has mentioned, preferably with pure orange juice.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

I have a timely update to my struggles with melasma. Thanks to LnL and Hqzn who recommended a 2000mg of MSM to 10000mg of Vit C, 50mg of Pycnogenol, 17 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract, Fair & White Whitener AND Shishedo SPF 50 sunscrren - I went to work yesterday with only sunscreen and eye makeup. I only manage to take the supplements twice a day because once I am at work I forget everything else except my name. I started this in January, so I have learned Goatlady's maxim - It takes time. Just follow the thread of copperoverload or grapefruitseed extract.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

I've read on other forums that the liquid version is best. One person buys empty capsules at their health food store and fills them with 15 drops of the Grapefruit Seed Extract. It's way easier to swallow that way.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

Thanks Colorado - May be when I will ran out of these capsules I can do the same thing. I know that I won't take liquid for long time. I am pretty sure I will gave up after awful tast. Thanks for the advise. Right now I am taking capsule and I ask the guy in pharmacey if there is any difference in liquid or in capsule. He said its same thing. Some people can't take capsules and they like liquid or some people other way round. But really don't know. I been taking almost a month now.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

Let me just state that I don't believe in Dr. Thienna's claims that a diet lacking in sulphur produces toxins, which equal darker skin. That is bs. Her whole company is a marketing scam.

A diet high in MSM is good for overall health, but in terms of skin lightening - there is no concrete evidence supporting her claims.

I don't think MSM really ever did anything to lighten my melasma...

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

I have been taking MSM pills and powder, total of 20,000mg a day with 3000mg vit. C, 50mg pycegenol, 20 drops GSE and udo oil, for about 2 months now, of course i started at about 4000mg a day with the msm. I recently started using the MSM lotion 15% it is amazing.

Changes: Nothing the first 2 weeks, just gas hoops! Week 3 added the powder form and i noticed that my skin was looking clear and the acne marks were fading (I was only using sunscreen and a moisturiser on my face). After noticing these changes, I increased the dosage of MSM and changed to a pure form with less additives Trimedica is 99% pure and Now foods is 97%. Oh, the first thing I noticed after about 10 days, was that my toe nail that had split in the middle had started to repair it self, I have tried every product for nails without any sucsess, as of today my nail is 100% repaired and I have removed the artificals on my fingernails. I will now be able to grow my own as they have become stronger.

Re: MSM to even out skin tone ?

After taking MSM, and the rest for 2 months, my hair is growing, nails are stronger and growing, my skin is glowing looks healthier & more elastic, (it rebuilds collagen, sulfur is found everywhere in our body and it decreases as we age) Sulpher is found in hair, nails skin and every tissues and organ in our body. I have always looked younger than my 36 years, but now I look even younger. And ladies, if your cycle is irregular, or insufficient i think that this supplement can help because never before have I ever had a cycle like this one, it seemed like there was a blockage or back up some where inside. (removing toxins and tissue repair). I'm also less hungry (the yeast theory) and more regular, the whites in my eyes are whiter my teeth are less sensitive, I feel good. Proof about the hair growing, I never had to shave my legs ever before, now i have to. No lie, my lips got fuller, I just noticed it last week, I could not believe it ( I already have full lips) so I asked my friend about it, she said that she had read somewhere thast some people use MSM for that pupose and that it also makes your breasts fuller.

I really don't like long posts but I do believe in this supplement and i don't like sounding like a broken record so do your own research or go and read up at evolutionhealth.com they have alot of info about it.

MSM does remove toxins from the body, bacteria, fungus, some viruses, adhesions and helps reduce inflamation, faster wound healing, I'm really not a frequent poster, but I think it's always good to share experiences espeacially if it could save or prolong somebody elses' life.

It also makes your cells more permeable, so you will absorb more nutrients, that also means that what ever product that you use on your skin will work better to and since it helps with rebuilding collagen and stopping the crosslinking of the fibers, the skin will become softer and less wrinkly and if you don't have any, you can delay them.
You have to continue supplementation, may be not at high dosages, to maintain the results. Just like anything else, if you stop lightening- you will darken, if you don't maintain a healthy diet-you will get fat or sick, if you dont maintain your car- it will break down, so when the sulphur in your body is depleted, you, will start to age, wrinkle, thinning hair, ashy dull, dry skin, disease ......
