Grr I am not happy!

I've just bought a new bike. A really nice one and it's coming at the end of the week and I WAS really looking forward to it coming.

Of course something had to go wrong like it usually does so I decided to go and brake my frickin' toe so I can't even wear a shoe properly let alone ride a bike.

Re: Grr I am not happy!

Oh now that truly sucks!! But congrats for the new bike. Can you not ride it with a fracture sandal on? You know, it looks like a big ugly sandal to keep the toe immobilized...it looks like a wooden-soled Croc.

"Treatment
Treatment depends on the location of the stress fracture. Most stress fractures will heal if you reduce your level of activity and wear protective footwear for 2 to 4 weeks.

Your doctor may recommend that you wear a stiff-soled shoe, a wooden-soled sandal, or a removable short-leg fracture brace shoe. Athletes should switch to activities that place less stress on the foot and leg. Swimming and bicycle riding are good alternative activities." [quoted from an online orthopedic site]

Forgot to add: "Keep yer pecker up, Dukes!"

Oh that stinks Dukes. Wrap that puppy up and wear flip flops. You need to take the pup on a bike ride.

This reminds me of my DH breaking his 2 toes about 3 weeks ago. We have pillars in our house and he got up one night to take the dog out to potty and ran straight into the pillar. Hitting the wood base at the bottom with his toes. I am sorry, but it was HILARIOUS!! I was right behind him and he didn't know it, OMG I laughed so hard I could have fallen on the ground laughing. My DH is a tall big guy, who is pretty quiet, and rarely says a bad word. Bless my DH, he wanted to scream, but remained somewhat cool calm and collective. I didn't I couldn't stop laughing. The next few days after that his toes continued to swell up pretty bad. Everytime he tells the story, I have to laugh. It was rather funny.

But for you Dukes, I am so sorry. That really is a bummer to break a toe-no easy way around it

Re: Grr I am not happy!

Poor Dukes!

I had bunion surgery a few years ago on my right foot. I was hobbling around my apartment on crutches, lost my balance, went flying into folding doors of my kitchen, and broke two toes on my left foot. That hurt more than the other foot which was stitched together like a baseball. But within a few days I was getting around again.

What is it about toes - they seem to be breaking all over the place!

Don't let it get you down. Just take a look at your grinning puppy and you'll feel better again!

Re: Grr I am not happy!

Fawnie, Im just gonna try and ride it anyway minus the silly sandal lol. Id rather be in pain than look like an idiot Im hardcore you see Im not going to the doctors they usually just tape your toes together and that would do my head in. It only hurts so bad when Iwalk but if I bend my ankle its not as bad. It looks pretty gruesome though.

Gymrat, Ihope Mr Gymrats toe is better and good on him for not cursing I was effing and blinding for about 10 minutes lol. Hes abetter man than me.

Mirecka, hes not grinning today hes all morngy cos it too hot for him. And hes been getting really angry with some ornaments on the harth this morning too. Im sure hell perk up a bit later on.

Yeah that's good: just buddy-tape the broken one to the one next to it - instant splint. As long as the bone isn't poking out or the toe isn't black or bleeding, you'll probably be OK. Except for ebola.

Hope the hound perks up! Does he have a swimming pool?

Re: Grr I am not happy!

It's not black it's just blue and red and purple and stuffs. Went on the bike today and tbh it hurt less pedalling on flat than it did walking but up hill it was complete agony I was almost crying like a baby lol God damn me and my ebola ¬_¬

Nah not a swimming pool I'm not that rich I'm gonna buy him a little paddling pool from Argos. I don't know if he'll use it like he's not really a fan of water. If not it's a waste of 15 quids but never mind.

Re: Grr I am not happy!

OK well be sure to put your foot up higher than your heart when you're sitting a while to keep the swelling down, right? We don't want that foot to fall off now, do we!

Wouldn't Crowley go in the pool if you were in it too? Bet he would! Plus you could cool off a bit. Get one big enough! Lie back with a cold beer and no worries the rest of the summer!

Re: Grr I am not happy!

The swelling seems to have almost gone, my toe looks kinda crooked though. It doesn't hurt quite so bad this morning so I think it's getting a wee bit better. Only thing is, now with walking all dodgy to avoid hurting my toe I've buggered up my leg and the side of my foot

I don't think he would. At the moment, he HATES water. That why I was gonna buy a small one. Only thing he like about water is when we put ice in it and he goes ice bobbing and blows bubbles in it with his nose.

Glad your toe is doing better Dukes. Hey I have a yellow lab who HATES water. Who would of ever thought a lab would hate water. It does happen. My mom has 2 dogs like you do. Rico and Roxy. They each have small pools that they lounge around in. When they were puppies they hated the water too. Maybe over time Crowley will enjoy it. My lab is 16 and never has, so I hope you have better luck!

Re: Grr I am not happy!

Ondine, this is the bike. It has disc breaks, full suspension [which is needed, I go offroad a lot and don't wanna hurt my bum ], the clicky type gears rather than twisty ones, big fat front forks and nice chunky tyres. I'm off to pick it up today, I can't wait. Only thing is it's absolutley chucking it down and thundering and stuff so I can't ride it

Thanks Mirecka I don't have 2 dogs, just the one. Maybe I'll get a friend for him when he's older but I don't think I'd cope while he's still a pup. Well I'm hoping he'll grow to like it, especially with this hot weather it would be a help. He's got a friend who's a 4 month old Akita and she LOVES the water when she runs in he just stands there waiting for her to come back out, hopefully one day he'll decide to follow her in.

Re: Grr I am not happy!

OOOH! AAAH! What an awesome bike; I love those! Mine is a hybrid by Schwinn. It has the full suspension but the tires aren't so thick. It has twisty gears & shimano derailleurs-plus it is LAVENDER . It has been humid ,clouded over & threatening to storm so no riding for me today either

You'll be 100% healed & pumping those pedals before you know it. Enjoy every second with your new bike.

Re: Grr I am not happy!

Oh right gymrat sorry

Sounds ace Ondine. I've had nothing but trouble with twisty gears. Hopefully yours are better than my old ones lol Well it cleared up and turned out to be an okay day from about 5pm onwards so I've been out on it. I LOVE it it's so quick its crazy. But it has come with road tyres for some reason. Really good road tyres but I barely ride on the road so I'm gonna have to buy some more the are SHOCKING offroad. And the handle bars are pretty low though and I have great big ridiculously heavy boobs so I've had a terrible back ache today, hopefully my back will learn to cope with it. And my toe has been fine on it, better than walking infact.

Re: Grr I am not happy!

I had an AWESOME day with it today.

Me and my boyfriend went to my mates house because we had to sort some stuff out with a court case (that is a whole other, horrible story) and on the way back we'd gone the long way round through the Turkey farms and the old coal mining pit.

It was spitting with rain the whole way pretty much but we just got into the main part of the pit and all of a sudden it just totally p*ssed it down out of nowhere. We both did a comedy "wooooah" at the same time and so did some people near the pond, which was very cheesey but quite funny by the time we'd gotten out of the pit we were completley soaking from head to toe. We couldn't have gotten any wetter so we thought bugger it and went crazy riding about in stupidly deep puddles getting drenched and muddy.

Then some chavs started singing 'singing in the rain' but 'cycling in the rain' lol

My new favourite thing is Cycling in the rain. <3
