Unhappy Chronic itchy skin after sun exposure - help !!

Please can someone give me some advice on what I can do to alleviate this terrible itching !!!

I got slightly sunburned a few weeks ago but not bad enough that I peeled or anything like that ... just a little red that's all.

Now four weeks later my shoulders and upper arms are really itching and it's driving me crazy !!
There is no visible rash and no other marks at all - apart from the marks where I have scratched myself.

It goes worse when I am warm and also in bed at night.

I asked a phamacist at a chemist for advice and she told me to apply aqueous cream three times daily for at least a week and things should improve.
I have been applying it for three days and so far it has done nothing to stop the itching - only temporary.

Has anyone else experience this itching after having been slightly sunburned ?

Also if anyone has any advice apart from daily moisturising I would be grateful.

Or pure aloe....may not relieve the itching right away...but it's cooling and healing. So it may help heal your problem faster, thus itching should be illeviated faster.

SLATHER on moisturizers. If I got sunburn on my shoulders(years and years ago), I would literally slather it on - not even rub it in. Kind of let it sit there for awhile and then rub it in. Aloe is a definite too.

Is this a rash? Not to alarm you , but a sensitivity to sun that creates a rash is linked to Lupus. You might want to see a doc, just to be safe.

Have you switched to a different laundry detergent or soap recently?
Aloe Vera gel is a good recommendation.
Also, try popping open a Vitamin E gelcap and rubbing that on the affected area.
