Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

Just my two cents...but I think Avon makes a product (Avon Anew Stretch Mark Cream...something to that effect) that even works on old stretch marks as well as newly formed. Has been receiving rave reviews. I will be ordering the product soon to test how well this works!

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

bio oil is really good. I used it my marks are deffinitely fading and not as bothersome as they used to be. I use it on my back too as I have acne scars....not as great for this but better than before. It's relatively cheap, available at pharmacies. I got mine at Walgreens.

Along with dark undereye circles, the stretch mark issue is another thing that I don't believe can be cured and manufacturers take advantage of our depseration and try to sell us overpriced garbage. Oh well. Us human beings will have to just live with it.

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

I never had stretch marks for that long but after my daughter was born (she is 9 now) I had dark stretch marks on my bikini line. I used a product called BodyMagic Rose Creme. I used it every day for about 5 months. It definitely wasn't an over night cure! What ended up happening was that the reddness faded away and became more transparent looking.
The best thing about this product (and all the others in the line) is that I can use it on my face and around my eyes because they are made from natural stuff! There are no chemicals or wierd stuff in it at all!

I use alot of there products and LOVE them!!

Skincarediva: blue chamomile definitely helps puffy eyes. There is a lot of garbage out there I agree. I have just ahd really good results with using natural stuff. I try not to use any products with chemicals.

also how much or least sleep I get, if I eat heavy foods or too much coffee, wine......

Retin-A can help lessen the appearance of old stretch marks.
Dermarolling also has gotten a following for this treatment.

I can't tell you what to use because I haven't found anything yet, but I can tell you NOT to use StriVectin-SD. It cost me $200 for 6oz and did absolutely nothing!!!

I agree with RG - I tried Strivectin-SD and it did absolutely nothing for me. I gave it 6 months of consistent use and gave up. The tube is so big and I had so much left that I felt guilty not using it anymore. So I started applying it on my neck - and it does make the skin soft and smooth. It just does nothing for wrinkles, which is it promoted to eliminate, in addition to its work vs. stretch marks.

It's a bit extreme but if all else fails, look into microneedling.

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

I think you should get yourself a foam roller and use it to break down the "lumpy" areas into a smooth surface. It's interesting because you really are thin, but you say you have this condition.

Here's an example of what they look like. Foam-Roller OPTP - Foam-Roller They're readily available in places that sell exercise equipment. Shouldn't cost more than $25.

You can use this "massage" YouTube - Foam roller on glutes and continue working the upper part of the legs.

My brother and I use them quite readily to help in recovery post workout. I don't really use it with clients though because I find that alot of them have a low threshold for pain and the foam roller feels like a deep tissue massage.

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

Thanks for the tips, faom roller reminds me of pilates, I'm too lazy for that kind of exercice, but I should give a try. I'm sure you can see some results especially in toning your body. I'm thin but on my mom side they are all overweight and I don't want this to happen to me so I have never stopped exercizing, each Summer I take my bike and do around 2000 to 2500 KM and it's been 25 years I do yoga with aerobic and Winter, I walk 45 min to 2 h when the weather allows it, and some cross country ski and alpine.
and of course I try to stay away from Mcdo, but now I have a crave for a greasy burger because of our meeting last evening LOL

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

Katrina, I bought Shea butter and I do my home body lotion with, but I don't have stretch marks so I cannot tell if it's good or not and I also use it for my lips and they don't crack.
I found this company last year and I bought 1 kg for $14.77, they have 3 kinds I went for the refined & deodorised, 'cause the review on the natural wasn't good, next time I will go for the organic.

Skin needling has been around for centuries, and is a treatment that can be effective for scar remodeling when used with either copper peptides or Retin-A

Skin needling: Youth by a thousand needle pricks

If you google "Dermaroller" you can find places to buy them.

Re: stretchmark remedy

WOW, I may give this a go, mixing the coca butter stick with vit E oil and olive oil. I think its good for the health of skin to provide nutrients topically. I also have old stretch marks... I'm thinking of lightening the area with Gluta C pills in combination with using Guta C Cream at night and Scrubing with Gluta C soap. I'll most likely be using the mixture you described during the daytime as that area is covered up and wont need sunscreen.

Of course I'll need the sunscreen on my face and arms, plus any other area exposed to light. Clothes does act as a sunscreen for my other parts. LOL

Re: what to use for old stretch marks (10+ years)

I also have stretch marks of 10 years old, lots of them. I got them after pregnancy 10 years ago. I have been using Elastin Advanced Stretch Mark Therapy developed by Robelyn Labs for the past 9 months or so and am having awesome results. Majority of the marks are faded. The few more stubborn ones left are no way as bad. Before I had used Strivectin, Emu oil, Bio oil, Cocoa Butter and some stretch mark creams I don't even remember the names of, and I didn't see as much improvement.
