I've had eczema terribly since I was born. Growing up, it ruined me. I'm just so ready for it to go away, which I didn't really think happened too much until my uncle told me him, both his children and one of his grandchildren grew out of it. I'm pretty optimistic about hopefully growing out of it, but I don't want to be sooo disappointed when/if it never happens. My uncle said his just started going away one day when he was 21 and it hasn't been back since.
Has anyone here grown out of it? Do you know of anyone who has? When did it happen? Most of the time, I feel like it's our only hope ...
well yes and no. yes you can grow out of it but when you get older and the skin ages you can have some flare ups. now when i say older i mean in your late 40's or 50's. i didnt want to bust your bubble but it is always possible for it to return.
If anything my eczema has gotten worse the older I am.
I pretty much had eczema around my joints and it only appeared on my arms and legs. It was manageable and didn't really need extra care. My eczema was the sort that got itchy but never got flaky.
The my eczema disappeared after 15/16 and I only needed to moisturise after a shower and that was all I needed.
Once I hit my twenties, the eczema flared up like crazy to all parts of my body and on my face (which never happened before). My skin became inflamed, thick (like elephant skin), very very dry, flaky, and my skin was constantly peeling.
Now it's a bit tamer but still itchy all day long.
I can definitely say ive grown out of it. I had Eczema for years and years. It was all over my body. But it would come up most on the insides of my arms/behind my legs and around my mouth. But its almost completely gone now.
I couldnt use any fragranced products or soaps. I couldnt wear short sleeved tops or shorts because of horrible marks all over my body. I had always had it but I started to get worse when I was 18. Then six years later it started to clear up. I still get little break outs from time to time. I guess we are all going to come across something that irritates us some time or another. When I do I get a little flare up its usually only in that area not all over my whole body like I used to get. My skin is also slightly more dry in the winter and I need to moisturise more but thats it.
i hope to same is ture for you and you grow out of it too.
You can't get rid of eczema. Doctors will tell you you can grow out of it but this is for some people. But you can grow out of it. Like your symptoms will lessen. I'm 18 and had eczema since 2. When I was younger, I use to be allergic to everything and my body was red, all covered in rash. Now, you can't tell I have eczema. But I get random allergic reactions which results in rash. I'd say my symptoms started lessening around the age of 13. But then I have a cousin whos 25 and still easily gets rashes so I guess it all depends on the individual. I hope you grow out of it though, it's annoying as hell.
Sometimes part of 'growing out of it' is down to changing your lifestyle: I certainly don't eat the same foods and use all the same products as I did 30 years ago! IMO it's worth going back-to-basics every so often and reviewing every aspect of your skincare regime and lifestyle to see if bad habits have crept in, or whether you are missing out on the latest research.
I had eczema bad on my hands for a part of my life. My eczema had never fully gone away completely, however my eczema is now bearable to live with. It used to get really bad, but now I just get a rash here or there, and I just use the cream my doctor proscribed to me. But I hope your eczema dies down for you!
Hello all. I have had allergies on and off forever. About two years ago I had a terrible flair up due to pet dander. Mind you I have had pets on and off as well but for some unknown reason my ex roommates doggies did me all the way in lol. The winter and summer time sometimes brings it on as well. Or sometimes not lol. I wish there was a way to get rid of it forever, but, apple cider vinegar and Cetaphil lotion really helps me during the winter time. I dilute the apple cider vinegar in the lotion and whenever my skin gets dry and itchy I just slather it on.
I hope so because that is what I've heard forever. My daughter has it and it seems like it is getting worse. My friend growing up had it too but it seems she has kind of grown out of it.
Wow! I did not know people could grow into it! Maybe it is due to some kind of allergy that you did not realize you had or were not exposed to until adulthood.
