Thanks Grechen I will...lol
Cool beans.. thanks Nina! I think I may have used something like this before... I went in to get some laser treatments to get rid of some pigmentation issues (total waste of money) and due to me fussing he gave me a liquid with HQ 8%, I never really used it, but I'm thinking that may be what it was...
Is it a safe chemical? If so, this seems like an easier method for me at this point, thanks again
Also, what type of SPF spray do you use? I was thinking about getting that Garnier sunscreen LNL talks about a lot
Update: I did a little search on DPG and this is what I got:
Dipropylene Glycol is a By-product of the manufacturing process of Propylene Glycol. It's not the same product. That said, both products in the concentrations used in underarm deodorant (and anti-perspiration products) are not considered an irritant, a carcinogen or toxic. Both Dipropylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol have a long history of safe usage. This said, you must remember this is not to assert that those with a sensitivity to either or both ingredients will find themselves free from the typical reactions: stinging and/or swelling and reddening of the skin.
Sounds like a winner!!

Hello all,
I am a newby and would like to thank you all for your suggestions and comments that are very very helpful! I have been doing research myself on skin lightening and came across Kojic acid Crystal Powder. I hear its PHENOMENAL in lightening skin... And so, I ordered 1kg.
Unfortunately, I thought it would come with instructions or recipe on how to use the raw material at home ...it didnt.... So, i was wondering how I can use it and what regimen I can use at home.
so far I am under this routine... Please let me know what you think about these :
1. Once a week I apply 40% Glycolic Acid Peel. It is a great exfoliator and it seems to lighten and brighten my skin . Its very strong acid ...so i let a couple days go by for any other facial treatment.
2. After a couple days and I see my skin is stronger from the peel, I exfoliate with Nutragena Scrub and then Apply Fullers Earth mixture as a Facial Mask (Fullers earth lightens skin)...
3. Finally, every day I take Glutathione and Vitamin C - Great Antioxidants!
Do you think it is safe to also incorporate RetinA in my routine since it helps with acne too?
Also, Does anyone have any suggestions also on acne scar removal???
Thanks so much!

Scarfree, just a polite suggestion: when you quote research like you did, please post either a link to the original source or state where you got the info. There have been trolls here who have posted so-called 'information' (some of it scientific-sounding) that is pure BS. I know what you've posted is accurate & will clear up a few misconceptions for people here. Thanks for getting the info out there.

| Not sure, are you able to check the ingredients for the 8% liquid?
About my compound/serum - it appears safe for me, I am applying it thinly and 10% is the maximum I will use. I suffer no dermititus or horrible side effects. To really be sure, patch test, patch test and patch test!! (inside of the arms is a great place to test I say).
You can get many different sprays, but I recommend the clear sprays - you can use nivea, ambre solaire etc - see sunscreen veterans about this or take a look at the older threads - its all there. (im forever grateful to these guys!)
xx

does anyone know about TCA, Glycolic Peels, fraxel lazer treatment for removal of acne scars?
I have some acne scars on my face, (thoigh they dont seem too deep, they still bother me BIG TIME!) and so I am trying to get as much info as possible to remove them and have a totally scar free face!!! Is this actually achievable with the treatments mentioned above, or will I always have "some" acne scarring despite all these treatments?
Thanks a million guys !

How safe is it to use 20% Hq cream?
Ondine how can I make this recipe into a 4 or 5% Hq cream?

How many people on here make their own stuff? I am too chicken, I guess. I'm afraid I will either blow up my kitchen or burn all my skin off.

I am a bit chicken too, but it has worked for several here with trial and error. I havent tried making anything as of yet, but I would like to give it a try soon...preferably to help lighten my body soon.

Correct me if im wrong ... but just like water in solid form i.e. ice has more volume but lesser in quantity in liquid , wouldnt hq powder which is a solid form vary in calculation when you add to a liquid ?
I cant explain this question properly, but a powder added to a liquid in that quantity, I think the calculation might go wrong. unless it is pure hq in liquid form where one tablesppon is added to four table spoons of eucerin lotion, I think adding hq in powder form would throw the calculation haywire. I wish I could explain what im trying to say better. but then again.... i just tried.

yes LAB, the calculations were off, that's why we did not see significant lightening and the lightening that was supposedly seen was the HQ crystals reflecting light, making you appear lighter - like a physical makeup.

I got my proportions initially from a site where a dermatologists were discussing compounding with HQ with eachother so I can assume the participants were well informed. Water is not HQ so expecting it to behave in the same manner is inaccurate. I understand why you'd ask about that, though.

Hi All,
Super great info on here! For the Hydroquinone Pure Crystals, you can get this on Ebay from seller: cjchemical for absolutely dirt cheap! It comes in opaque plastic jars. I ordered two not knowing how far it would go. It ships super fast as well.
The recipe I used stated that 1/2 tsp per 12 oz of prepared cream would make a 2% HQ result. Using that as a base: 1 tsp = 4%, 4 tsp = 16%, 5tsp = 20%. That means with 3 tsp = 1 tlb, you would need 1 tlb + 2 tsp for a 20% HQ cream.
Also, I did the compound both ways: first trying to dissolve it in Glycerine, which they stated could be substituted for the DPG then adding a prepared cream to it and heating all of it together. The HQ did dissolve in the Glycerine but when the cream (Nadinola) was added, it was like a lumpy concoction, not smooth and not emulsified.
Then, I dissolved the crystals two other ways, in pure Glycerine and then Hand Sanitizer which has a base of ethyl alcohol. I waited til it cooled down to 'warm' then added this to a cream (Nadinola). This worked just fine and was a creamy smooth result with both dissolving agents.
I havent tried the DPG as a dissolver yet or using the Eucerin as a mixing agent. When this is used up, I will do that and report back.
I didnt add any RA since I didnt have any yet but I will try adding this to it when I do.
Purchasing it this cheaply does give you some leeway on the experimentation!

Some people DO just use the two, by dissolving their crystals in the DPG and using it straight as a serum. They say it works fine for them that way, but I wanted enough to use all over as a face and body application.
