| Hey deam, why exactly are you doing the layered TCA peels? I hope you took all the necessary precautions on the before and after care from using chemical peels.

That is an elaborate, detailed professional methods to chemical peels. Thank you for such an informative knowledge! I am excited about the end result but somehow I believe not everybody is suitable doing it. It has to depend on one"s life style. If one is active in outdoor sports and no matter how much sunblock one uses during outdoor activities the after effect shall be devastating. The new skin shall be more dull looking! But can a person who does microdermabrasion often , does chemical peel? What is your professional view? I do this procedure often. Need your view pls.

Hi everybody, great information here. Thank you all for contributing your experiences and knowledge!
I'm interested in doing the TCA peels. I'm a 46 year old, fair skinned woman with sun spots and wrinkles. I currently use .1 retin a cream and have on order HQ for skin lightening and hopefully reduction in my hyperpigmentation. I'm very careful about sun exposure and applying sun screen.
So my question is, what percentage should I use? I want to see results, but I don't want to scare small children when I go out in public after. Also, I'm a little worried about correct application. If I order from makeupartistschoice, do they send detailed directions? Should I stop using retin a prior to peel?
Thanks so much!

Stop using Retin-A one to two weeks before the peel and during that time use a skin strengthening moisturizer, day and night, dont exfoliate on your off retin-a days.
TCA 15% is perfect for you, it exfoliates off a great amount of old dead skin cells, renews them and you should start peeling by day 3 or 4 and full results at week from when you first administered the peel. Yes, makeupartistschoice does indeed send a card with their logo and intructions on how to apply and neutralize peels.

Thanks LightenNLift!
What is an example of a skin strengthening moisturizer?
Thanks again! Can't wait to try.

Thanks again, LnL. I was reading about the copper peptides on the second site. Do you know anybody who's had success with them?
I'm a nursing student and this is all so interesting, particularly since I'm studying skin in A&P right now. In fact, I think I might present my research paper on the effects of sun and aging to the skin and skin repair. I thought I read somewhere that you are a pharmacology student. If you have any credible sources I could use for my paper, let me know. Thanks!

| | Re: Chemical Peeling: What to Expect Before, During, and After LnL, thanks so much for your help so far. I ordered my F&W after reading your post and it arrived today. If i use the F&W 2x per day with the AA can it be at the same time or do i need to leave a gap between the both also..............does it matter which one i apply first and another also..............should i apply the F&W only to the melasma?
So sorry for all the questions!!
Thanks again for your help!!

Jojo1, you are welcome. If your skin can tolerate it, you should use AA and F&F together at the same time twice a day for the whole face, not just the melasma. It doesnt matter which one you apply first, as both of them will work on your skin at the same time. At first, it may seem like your melasma is standing out more because the rest of your skin is lightening, but trust me, there will be a point where your melasma will be gone and blended in and when you stop your natural color will come back WITHOUT the melasma, just even skin. If you cannot tolerate the F&W and AA together, then use the F&W in the morning with sunscreen and use the AA at night by itself. If you experience dryness, be sure to use a moisturizer on top of your products.

Maheen, congrats on your upcoming wedding...
You can start with a series of lactic acid peel 40%...it's very mild and there's no downtime...it'll leave your skin moisturized and after about 4 - 6 peels, your skin will be lighter and glowing...Do it once a week and if you're using RA, stop using it at least a couple of weeks before the peels...HTH

Thanks Angel hun, is it possible to use the lactic peel twice a week for 4 weeks
then move on to HQ and T for further 4 weeks and then have my medium peel done professionally.

I have never tried LA peel twice a week; so can't really answer this but I guess it depends on your skin tolerance to LA...
After a series of LA peel, you can use HQ but if by T; you mean tretinoin/Retin A; then NO, don't use tretinoin soon after the LA peel and certainly NOT just before a Medium peel... You need to wait at least 2 weeks before and after any peels to use tretinoin/RA...We don't want you burning your skin just before your wedding now...

I have a little bit of facial hair, I am going to have laser treatment- will that cause any side effects with me using lactic acid peel on my skin?
