smh....I agree, I remember seeing that video. The products they used makes them look weird and distorted.

Re: Family of skin bleachers

I'm so confused...the first woman's skin was a total mess yet she continued to use these products? And is it just me or did she, along with the younger gal and the guy all look a little dark for having been bleaching for so many years? The guy said he only bleached his face but he appeared to be the same color all over, no? Or is it that they all started out very, very dark and are indeed lighter now?

Re: Family of skin bleachers

They are disillusioned and possibly has some sort of a mental disorder to continue to bleach with those creams. They DO NOT wear any sunblock or even know what that is. They use creams with steroids and mercury in them. The woman whose facial skin color was scattered and disfigured displayed no regrets and appears very comfortable with bleaching and is continuing to do so. They showed products such as Bio Claire, Steroid Creams, all the "vates" and about every single adulterated bleaching product you can find in the black market. They go outside in the hot Caribbean sun and bake with bleaching creams on and use the unimaginable justification that the heat from the sun will make their skin moist and heat it up for the bleaching creams to absorb and work better, WTF???????? Are you out of your mind.

Bottom Line: It seems like this whole bleaching trend in the Caribbean is more of a hobby or fad than a serious research proper skin care approach. It just seems like they are blinded by their idea of a whiter version of themselves and everyday when they apply the creams, they picture their "fantasy-self" in their mind, without actually looking in the mirror and seeings the damage that is blatantly apparent.

I agree completely, LNL. When I first saw this family, I wondered about a pervasive mental illness (a form of OCD). Their logic is deeply flawed & what they're doing is dangerous & doomed to be ineffective.

^^Seriously! Bleaching (ineffectively- superficial) before putting food in your belly (survival)? That's a mental disconnect.

Re: Family of skin bleachers

I was surprised the interviewer didn't address that woman's disfigured face. She said she would stop bleaching if she saw someone else get cancer, but isn't looking at her face all the convincing she should need?

Re: Family of skin bleachers

Before clicking this link, I figured this was a black Caribean/African family. Not to offend any afro-caribbeans and Africans, but the only time I hear about Blacks skin bleaching and Blacks praising of light skin is from them. Most of my Caribbean friends, especially, are color struck. I wonder why it seems to more of an issue with among Caribbeans and Africans as opposed to Black Americans?

Re: Family of skin bleachers

Because they're slow ! Just joking! Just needed a good laugh. Who knows what they're doing, but after 10yrs of no progress, she might as well stop while ahead. I mean who does this? Who makes a lifestyle out of things like this? This is fanatic!

People spend too much time on skin complexion. I understand you wanting a few shades, but what i don't agree with is taking it to the extreme.

I simply think they don't know. A lot of things are sold over the counter and folks just rub it on. I think being poor and uneducated plays a big factor.
