Hi there, I have really oily skin. I used to break out a lot but I was also taking B.C pills but since I've stopped, I don't break out as often. I still have very oily skin though especially my T-Zone. Any recommendations on a good skincare cleanser and moisturizer (with some SPF protection) that can reduce the oiliness? Thanks!

I recommend beauticontrol products. They do wonders for problem skin. I'm a young(ish) male and I have dealt with oily skin like you wouldn't believe, but not anymore. The biggest leap for me was realizing that drying my skin out was the last thing I wanted to do. Keep your skin moisturized and clean/tone/repair with gentle products. Good Luck

Neutrogena 2% salicylic pink grapefruit wash
I skip the toner - makes my skin oilier
PCA A&C serum 23 or Bioelements Quick Refiner both have retinol and fruit acids so a sunscreen is def needed to prevent sun damage.
I follow with Pevonia oily skin cream. I put a small dot on each cheek and one on my forehead and one on my chin and lightly smooth out to cover entire face. Then i follow with a few small dots of MD Forte oil-free SPF 40 sunscreen.
Glo-minerals has a well-reputed oil-free mineral make-up line. I have been pleased with their concealer and powder bronzer. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip. I have very oily skin too and I am currently using Bare Minerals make up but this leaves my skin shiny. I have tried all kinds of foundation and mineral make up was my only hope
I want to try Glo-minerals make up. Do you know where I can buy it in the UK?Thanks again.

i've very oily skin too and I am currently using the oil free shine control moisturiser from Simple followed by a non greasy herbal sunscreen which I recently purchased from India. For the first time, I am glad to report my skin is not producing as much oil and I am happily wearing my bare minerals foundation without the need of re-application during the day!!

If you have oily skin and mostly have clean pores that is a good thing. You can get by with the right cleanser and moisturizer. There are some skin care ingredients that can diminish production of sebum/oil and well worth searching for. They are sold under names like "acnet" and "evermat" and are used in several skin care lines, also vitamins like B3 and green tea extract have shown to improve oily skin conditions. These products do not have to be expensive and can be found on ebay and other places both in UK, US, and Europe.
If you have clogged pores and black heads the only thing I know of that has helped me and others are acid peels, and these help every time. Weekly peels with salicylic acid in anything from 5% - 20% works wonders, and a combination of salicylic and lactic acids are well worth trying too. Salicylic acid is the only thing available for home use that really dissolves the hardened sebum stuck in the pores and will at the same time peel of dead skin that contribute to trap the sebum in the pores. The salicylic and lactic combination gives much better results on acne and clogged pores than glycolic acid.
Do not be afraid to use a moisturizer with oils on your skin. These peels will strip away oils and in most cases your skin needs some kind of moisturizer. Even very young people can benefit from additional serums with hyaluronic acids and other skin nurishing ingredients. Seaweed extracts is by many considered more like a basic food for skin (like the skinactive site). Keeping the skin soft, nurished and comfortable should be top priority as this will help signaling to the oil glands they do not have to work overtime. If you look around you can find ways to add different ingrediets to your favorite cream that does not cost an arm and a foot. The skin care industri is out to get your money and will sell their top lines at any price. I promise: Este Lauder, Creme de la Mer, Kanebo or even less priced Skin Active have nothing on the best lowprice products. The skin care industri have access to the same active ingredients and in most cases they are not as exclusive as they like to appear.
I hope I'm not boring you with this long reply and I hope you can find some use in my experiences as I have been through this many times. I'm over 30 now

Not at all! This is one of the best summaries on the use of peels that I've seen. Thank you so much for taking the time to do it. Could you recommend a good peel for clogged pores? You mentioned a salicylic acid peel is best, with lactic acid as well - do you use one that is commercially available or make you own. If the latter, could you give some guidance on how to do so?

I don't make my own these days, but it is easily done. Salicylic acid is available and the online sellers seams to be the best on price. It can be a bit cumbersome to measure the exact % and streangth the first times and the right equipment is necessary. The skinactive people (skinactive.com) call it willow extract (as the salicylic acid is naturally produced by the willow tree).
Right now I use one from a seller on ebay.uk. I feel I get the most for my money here. I use mostly the lactic / salicylic peel, but the 20% peel too (this is the strongest, don't be afraid to try the milder ones 10%, 15%. Your skin should look fine, feel soft and comfortable the rest of the week. Though you will feel the action of the peel for 30 minutes or so after. They sting more than you would like the first times, especially the lactic, but use a nutralizer when the peel have worked for a minute or so, and the stinging is over in 8 seconds. You can let the peels work longer after the first few peels, but only one minute increase every/every other time. I think 7 min. is maximum recomended time for home use. Nutralizer is baking soda dissolved in a bit if water and perhaps some aloe gel or other skin soothing agents. Let this work for a minute or so. Salicylic is the mildest and very safe for longterm use, but not for those with dry skin. It is the salicyIic acid that dissolves hardened sebum and helps it come to the surface naturally. I have mostly used the serum and the peels and not the other products from the UK seller because I'm alergic to hazelnuts and this beautician really likes this oil in her creams.
There are many similar products available in stores and on the net. Though the serious peels are not allways that easy to find. I really like the products from the Skinactive site, but from US the postage can be rather expensive so I order only a few now and then. They have a T-sone serum and a peel kit that is worth checking out.
These two websites are the ones that I use, but as I have mentioned repeatedly there are several out there. If you try the peels you can all ways use it together with your usual products and take it from there.
I don't recomend the benzo peroxide used in many products, it works fast and kills bacteria but is not that good for your skin longterm. These conditions most often last for years and the skin care too.
I was not allowed to post URLs as I am too newly registered here. But the ebay.uk shop is called "forever young" and if you search for "salicylic acid" several products turn up. The US site is called skinactives.com
Good luck with your skin care search !
