I have somewhat sensitive skin. I had been using Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Wash Face scrub without any issues. I recently thought I would try to Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Face Wash (slightly different from the scrub) and had bad results. Essentially my face become very irritated and I broke out with patches of small, white pimples on my neck, chin and cheek. My forehead did not see the small white pimples, but is a little bit red and also irritated. What happened? Did I have a bad reaction to one of the ingredients? What can i do to get rid of the small white pimples and stop the irritation? Thanks.

hi jam

i always have this issue whenever i use anything by neutrogena. there must be something in the ingredients that bother me, so i avoid their products at all times.

i have sensitive but acne prone skin. i personally use glycolic acid products and niacinamide to treat my acne, but in the mean time, i would suggest stop using neutrogena, and look for a cleanser that is either fragrance free or something is clarifying but gentle.

i love this one cleanser by earth science. its the clarifying wash. the ingredients are great, and help remove makeup and cleans your face so good, keeping pores clean. also try to invest in something like manuka honey, and do a mask with this. this will help clear up this rash and these white pimples in the mean time. in you do a search hear on the forum about manuka honey, you will hear such awesome things about it.

these are the ingredients for the cleanser.

Aqueous infusion of aloe barbadensis leaf juice, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, cocamidopropyl betaine, glycerin, panthenol, PEG 150 distearate, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, rosemannus officinalus (rosemary) leaf extract, ascorbic acid, betula alba (birch) bark extract, sodium hyaluraonate, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, macrocystis pyrifera (kelp) extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, zinc sulfate, citric acid, potassium sorbate phenoxyethanol and fragrance (parfum).

Hi,

I think there's nothing wrong with the product and I think its in your skin because as you've said you have been using "face scrub" and momentarily switch to "face wash"...and I can see what's behind that patches, pimples, and all and its all about that your skin is now I think recognizes or just being dependent to that "face scrub" and since you switch to "face wash" you skin creates a reaction and doesn't recognize it at all even though they are in same brand. Hence, you must stop using the two products for a week or two or until the reactions subside and go back using the "face scrub". I hope this helps.

I see so MANY CLIENTS with the same issue, this neutrogena wash is not for acne-prone skin. Natural oils are actually irritating TO ACNE-PRONE SKIN, sunflower and saflower oils are okay. KELP IS THE DEVIL if you are acne-prone (look it up, if you need reassurance). Fragrance is A BIG NO. Fragrance is one term allowed by the FDA to unable manufacturers to add whatever else they are in the products. Fragrance are reactive in the sun. This product also contain SLS. You will NEVER get clear using this product IF YOU ARE ACNE-PRONE. If you are not acne-prone it's okay to use.

Are you saying that the product is in fact a Natural Oil? Thanks.
