The DIY Chronicles: How to DIY Divine Diva's Divine 3 Lotion & DIY Venusia

Hey guys, this is part 2 of my DIY Series.

Will be posting receipes for both a DIY Venusia and a DIY Divine Diva's Divine No.3 Lotion

Disclaimer: I do not know the exact % of the actives she uses in her cream, so the % would be up to you, also this recipe does include clobestasol propionate

viewthumbjsp.jpg

img20111212214422.jpg

Now looking at her description of her Divine  3, she has goat milk, shea butter, cocnut powder, Alpha arbutin, b3, CP(roid) and other things

http://www.divinedivaskincare.com/apps/webstore/products/show/2983254

So lets break it Down:

So she uses shea butter, cocunut and goat milk, so i was thinking to let this be our base cream, so we will either make a Shea butter cream from scratch or by a premade one...its up to you......

Lets Begin:

So lets make a Shea butter cream that has cocunut oil and goats milk, this will be our base cream, that we will add our lightening ingredients + sterioids

1. Make Shea butter cream

Ive seen 2 two recipes that look interesting

http://loveandtrash.com/2010/12/diy-whipped-shea-butter/

http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/lotion/easy-whipped-shea-butter-2/

or

if your lazy you can buy a premade shea butter cream

http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandsalve.com/products/details/30/31/whipped-shea-butter

2. Now that we have our Shea butter cream as our base, its now time to add our actives to it...

So she uses b3, Alpha arbtin and Clobestasol Proprionate

On the bottle of the her N.03 lotion it says there is 4% aplah arbutin and it say a ;higher % of b3' so im gonna say since b3 lighten at 5%, that she might of used 5-7% b3, now remember i dont know the % of actives she uses but we can duplicate her lotion through trial and error

So now that we have that establised, we are gonna put the actives in the batch calculaor, the batch calculator is SOOO useful

http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Calculators/Batch_Size_Calculator.aspx

Go to the batch calcultor and plug in the actives...so it should be as follows. b3 5%

alpha arbutin 4%  and steriods 0.05%  then plug in 90.95% so everything adds up to 100%

Now we want to make a 200g cream like hers, so put that in 'total batch volume' and then press calculate...

so it should show what we need to make our cream

Alpha arbutin- 8g
B3-10g

Now we just need to convert the grams to tsp...u can use google or whatever

so its

Alpha Arbutin- 8g = 1.5tsp(probably add add a tincy more)
B3 - 10g   =2tsp(probably add a tincy more)

So now that we have our actives measured, we are gonna add them to our cream..the Alpha arbutin and nicinamide are both soluble in water so we can dissolve both these actves preferbslly with distilled water and add to our Shea Butter base

Now that everything is mixed, we have to check the ph, if everthing is at the correct ph, we are good to go but if it need adjusting we can do so

3. Now for the Steriods. so im gonna say that the steriod in this lotion is Clobestasol Proprionate. now this might be the most  difficult part...we can attempt this two ways

a. we can purchase liquid topical steriods amd probably use it at .05%...throw this into our batch calcultor and see what it spits out and add it to our cream

b. or we could use a topical steriod cream and mix it with our Shea butter mix cream..now if i remember correctly someone had stated that it might not work like  that but ppl have mixed steriods creams with regular lightening creams to boost them...so it can work

http://www.skincaretalk.com/t/29776/making-a-hydrogold-dup

an option  is  to use L'Abidjanaise coco butter cream...lol thats an inside joke btw, you should be snickering if you get it!!!....lol

Summary

1. Make/buy shea butter cream(make sure it has coconut oil and vit e in it)

2. add b3 and alpha arbutin to shea butter base...mix well

3. Add steroid agent to cream..mix well

Voila you have made your very own Divine No.3 Lotion

Voila

Alright so for Venusia..which is so simple

So on their site they use 15% active ingredients for Venusia..which contains: kojic acid, sephi white, b3, alpha arbutin

SO lets brainstorm..uhmmm what should be the base cream...thinking...thinking..still thinking

Ahh *snaps finger* So since kojic acid is unstable to work with, lets use a base cream that already uses kojic acid, so the only i can think of on the top of my head is The Cape fear Kojic Acid Cream which has 4% KA

Now that we have our base cream lets...make Venusia

Go to the batch calculator and plug in the actives...so it should be as follows. b3 5% sepiwhite 2%  4% arbutin and  then plug in 89% so everything adds up to 100%

Now we want to make a 4oz cream like Venusia, so put that in 'total batch volume' and then press calculate...

so it should show what we need to make our cream

Alpha arbutin- 4.54g
SephiWhite-2.27g
b3-5.67g

Now we just need to convert the g to tsp...u can use google or whatever

so its

AA-4.54g = 1tsp
SW-2.27=1/2tsp
b3-5.67=1 1/4 tsp

2) So now that we have our actives measured, we are gonna add them to our cream..the Alpha arbutin and nicinamide are both soluble in water so we can dissolve both these actves preferablly with distilled water and add to our Kojic acid cream base

now for the sephiwhite, is different, it needs heating and its soluble in oil...so we are gonna dissolve it with equal amounts of oil in a hot bath over boiling water and then mix it in with our base

Now that everything is mixed, we have to check the ph, if everything is at the correct ph, we are good to go but if it need adjusting we can do so

Voila you have your Venusia

Now dont worry I will be showing you how to makes these creams  stepby-step with a picture tutorial, when i get my actives.I just wrote these reciepes to give you an idea on how to do it but i will provide pics and more detailed instructions

Im very interested in the actives in Divine 3 for problem areas like knuckles. eblows and feet...yes i know it contains steriods

But anyway i will be ordering my actives FRIDAY, and when i get i'll will be making a knock off version of Hawa's Divine 3 lotion and also my personal DIY lotion for my challenge

Cant wait

Hey girl, same here too got some stubborn spots that need eradcating but $109 + shipping is WAY too much for me....so im gonna buy my actives on friday and compund this....are you gonna use the Shea butter lotion??

Ive read that somewhere here that some BSS sells liquid steriods( note liquid Bethamethasone is usely used for scalp treament)

but what i was planning to do was just add a tube cream(L'adbijanaise) with 0.05% CP to my DIY mix and try it out for 2weeks..

I agree the price and shipping are a big no for me.

I just purchased the B3, alpha albutin, and lactic acid from lotioncrafters. I purchased the sepiwhite from makingcosmetics.com.  They had the powder and liquid didn't know which would be better so I got a small size of both.  Now I'm off to chargin valley for a base (cuz I'm lazy) and an internet hunt for liquid steroids. I'm so geeked, I hope to have everything by this time next week.
