Right now I’m using a Japanese mixed chemical and physical sunscreen and have started using a layer of pure physical sunscreen just over my melasma areas on my cheeks and bridge of my nose (for some reason too much zinc oxide breaks me out... esp on my acne prone areas - T-Zone). I’ve been on TA for about 2.5 weeks now and I think I am starting to see some fading. Hopefully it continues. I’m also starting to use hydroquinone very infrequently as it irritates my face.

I wonder how everyone else is doing. Hopefully all their melasma is doing “well”
zinc is actually very good for acne prone skin, it is not only soothing but will help clear/dry acne up. As for Japanese sunscreen I'd be careful using it if your acne prone its loaded with alcohol which is horrible for any skin type but really bad for those who are acne prone.

    Hi

the heat wouldn’t help either with your Melasma!

I get break outs from the zinc oxide if I don’t take it off properly. As it’s quite thick it can be a bit hard to take off so I use a light glycolic cleanser, put it on at the start of a shower and let it soak in a bit re rub it in and then wash it off. Be careful of the claims of sunscreens from America/Asia as being SPF 50+. In australia a lot of them have been tested (Murad etc) and their ratings reduced because it’s independently tested in australia not by the manufacturer.
