I have used the prescription retin a 0.05 % cream from my surgeons office ,in 2007-2010 just using that, a mild glycolic acid scrub from olay and sun avoidance I lightened in my face 1 full shade...I used the obagi blender/and 'clear from the surgeon office and my face lightened like 2 and a half shades. I had to stop using retin a and the obagi line in mid 2010 cause of financial problems I had to deal with ( could not afford it) and the diff was/has been obvious in my face lightening and clarity overall.....I compared pics from then and now...My face was a bright golden color..now its more of a dark honey or peanut butter color without the 'glow' in certain light etc.....
So last year I joined here and started using the online gel version of retin a and I peel on my face...but not like I did when I went to get mines from the surgeons office....the gel retin a I buy from adc it comes and the tube is always cracked so most of my product spills out....this never happens with my prescrition creams...I used the gel since may 2012-sept 2012 and no real results..as far as even skin brightening.
Now with the cream its more 'moisterizing' and when attempting at skin lightening one wants to have hydration with their lightening, and with the gel version of retin a that we get online its more of an slight oily-greasy feel to it..which imo is the reason it does not work so well on my skin, I feel like it does not penetrate the skin as well as the PRESCRITION cream version.
Long story short, If you can afford... buy your retin a cream from a surgeon's office...I started using mines in november of last year at 1% and used it only 2 times a week and my skin has lightened 2 shades
with sun avoidance and obagi gentle cleanser and hyaluronic acid moisterizer.....I have no even really used my diy HQ since sept of last year cause I want to buy Obagis version of HQ thats in the clear and blender, because thats what really lightened m, alongst with retin a in 2007......My surgeon said I dont need the HQ anymore hes 'white' so he dont get that Im trying to lighten my skin more than my complexion, an he reccomends 'against it'.
So now im searching for legit obagi 'clear' 'blender' 'sunfader' which all contain HQ 4 %
Help someone, thanks
