Hi, my son is only 7.5 years old, but he has acne-like bumps on both cheeks for a few years now. See the following picture.

These bumps are neither sore nor itchy, so they never bother him. But they bother me. His pediatrician says we don't need to worry about it, but I still wanna somehow get rid of them.

Do you guys have any idea about what these bumps are and what specialist should my son see? Thanks for your input.

We know that acne is often caused by an hormonal balance in the body. Your son is too young for this, unless of course we have an exterior element causing this. Does your son drink a lot of milk? Today's cows are injected with some much hormonal crap that the milk they produce is also affected. This is the only thing I could think of.

A dermatologist is the specialist you should see.

Thank you very much. He does drink milk, but I am not sure how much a day is considered a lot. I think I will have to take him to see a derma.

As long as your acne is only light to moderate, you can use home acne remedies, everything that you need can be bought from a grocery store.

Acne is not a mere teenager malady. It also attacks adults as well and it has been shown that children as young as 8 are also getting acne and that early acne is an indication of future serious breakouts. Acne is an equal opportunity destroyer, with no regard to race, culture, gender or even age. As the market is literally flooded with acne treatments, you may find it difficult to choose the best treatment for your acne problems.

That's rediculous, how is the young guy going to develop immunity to it? Otherwise no one would have acne because of the immunity to it. In fact, whiteheads are the result of this so called immunity when the white blood cells attack the infection of p.acnes. So your theory is way off. This is something that needs to be addressed.

Actually acne in young kids is often caused by over-cleansing of the skin. Their skin is more sensitive and putting too many harsh cleaning and moisturizing products can trigger breakouts.

Unfortunately, many children are entering into puberty at earlier and earlier ages, its called precocious puberty. This happens as a result of their environment, exposure to certain chemicals & hormone laden foods, as a so they mature sooner. I haven't seen the pictures so I am not sure, but if your child is over weight, or large for his age, this may be the case. This actually may be acne.

My son had something similar when he was growing up. We took him to a dermatologist when he was 13. She put him on a daily skin care routine and also tested him for allergies. In his case, he was allergic to several things. The skin care routine helped with the redness he had in his cheeks. My son was shaving at the age of 13 and we had to let him grow a mustache and beard during the summers for a while. I would highly recommend you go to a dermatologist before trying any products on his skin.

My son is only 3-years-old, but he would get very similar pimple-like bumps on his face. As a baby he was diagnosed with a milk protien allergy, which caused eczema on his face. Getting him on rice and soy milk cleared up the eczema, but the doctor said he could grow out of the allergy. So every so often we try cow's milk again, and that's when the pimple bumps appear. We stop the milk and they go away!? I hope this helps.

My 10 month old baby girl recently started to get pimple like bumps around her mouth, chin and cheeks and took her to a dermatologist where he said she had eczema. He gave topical creams to help the swelling, but realized this was only going to help her skin and the source of why she had eczema was still a mystery. After going online, I found someone with a similar case as mine and led me to believe she was allergic to milk. Well it's been a week and 2 days and she has not gotten new bumps and the old ones are slowly dissapearing. It may be a food allergy. My daughter was drinking 5-6 bottles of 9oz. bottles of whole milk, which is alot of milk, i substituted whole milk with rice milk. Hope this helps

It could actually be acne, or just an irritation. He looks like he's got a lot of facial hair for someone his age, maybe you should see a pediatrician.
