Hi everyone, I'm new on here and wondering if anyone has used Eve Lom Cleanser? I have oily/sensitive skin (isn't that great?!) and not sure if it might be too strong or heavy for me. Any advice greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

Hi Zanna!

Yes! I have used Eve Lom products (what haven't I used?) and like the cleanser very much. It is a cult product because so many ppl love it.

It has an herbal clove-like smell and the consistency of Albolene Cream, if you've ever used that. It is like a balm that emulsifies when you add water. There is a certain technique that is explained with the product involving multiple warm compresses to remove it along with all the impurities in your skin.

I quit using it because of the cost - very spendy! But it IS nice...The camphor masque is a must too if you have blemishes. She subscribes to the theory that most skin doesn't need a moisturizer, so if you have oily skin this might be for you. I don't know how sensitive your skin is, but the cleanser is heavily scented with herbs like cloves and such. Not unpleasant at all, but it does have that scent and is pretty intense. Let us know how you like it if you do try it!

Although I have never used this product, but my advice would be to carefully look at the ingredients. Especially if you have sensitive skin. This wash has mineral oil-and is always my first sign to stay away from it. The amount of mineral oil is pretty high being it is the first ingredient listed-

Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG 30 Lanolin, Bis Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate 2, Aluminum Stearate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter, PEG 75 Lanolin, Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile Oil), Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Oil, Humulus Lupulas (Hops Oil), Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, P Chloro M Cresol, Eugenol, Isoeugenol

*just a little info on mineral oil*
Mineral Oil. It sounds harmless, but it actually comes from crude oil or petroleum which is used in metal cutting industries. It can actually suffocate your skin by forming an oil film over the top layer of your skin. In order to have healthy and radiant skin it needs to breath and be able to release carbon dioxide, so you can how unhealthy your skin can be if there is an oily film settling on the top. Although some think that oils will keep your skin hydrated, what this will do is actually leave your skin more sensitive and cause it to dry out more easily.

By all means it might be a great product for some people, I would just do a little more research on the ingredients before you buy!

I have always heard "stay away from mineral oil" too, so I know what you mean. As long as it's purified and medical grade paraffin I don't have any qualms using it myself. Eve Lom's product emulsifies well and doesn't settle in the pores as long as it is thoroughly removed I think. She gives instructions how to do this with repeated compresses. I didn't really have any breakouts when I used it, but YMMV of course. Again, it's a cult thing, so some ppl love it and some hate it. Nothing works for everyone!

She is actually located in London and has a clinic there for skincare. Her products subscribe to the theory that a moisturizer is not needed for most skins, and especially not oily skin. Whatever. But her cleanser is fun to try.
