I have been suffering from acne problems and sometimes they really get worse. I have tried many of the anti-acne products available but I am not satisfied with them as I feel that the results they give are just a matter of time. Can anyone suggest me a good remedy for this?

There is no silver bullet for the acne problem. Each person's skin is different and some products out there works better than others.
For me, drinking lots of water and keeping a healthy diet keep them down. Also, I don't use makeups when I can ... All the bests.

Acne is just plain frustrating. I work intensively with acnetic patients. What are you currently using on your skin? any topical vitamins or serums?

Anika is on the money here! A great deal of improvement can come "from within".

Many skin care issues can be helped greatly if diet/water intake is sorted as a first priority. Then if you need some more help, take a close look at the products out there - just don't rely on the creams and potions for a magic fix!

PS.....I've three grown up "kids" who all went through the acne stage. The two girls had no problems as they were prepared to listen to Mum and cut down on the alcopops and burgers....

My boy had bad acne for a while, simply because he wouldn't put in the effort to amend his lifestyle - ever tried getting a 6ft3in rugby player to cut out the beer and the takeaways??? - but that's another issue?!

Tanning is supposed to make your acne go away- but you have to keep up with it- oterhwise it will come back (bad)
Spending time in the fresh air and sunshine may have some short term benefits for acne, but in the long term it can lead to premature skin aging and wrinkles. It is vital to use a sunscreen product on the exposed skin, even in the winter, as aging UVA rays are present all year round.

U must realize the fact that there is no magic. Depends on your severity, u need different strategy. Or it would be somthing like works for me but not for you. For the mild case, antibiotics solution works well with virtually no side effects. it works by killing the bacteria p acni on your skin but the precise mechanism not known. So if u belong to the group i suppose early prevention is better than cure. Just dont sit at home and hope it go away. U must face it head on .

How is your calcium intake since you are dairy-free?

Maybe the problem was the hormones in the dairy products. Are there any health food stores offering hormone-free organic dairy products?
Does meat (also with those nasty hormones) have any effect on your skin?

well,i haven't really thought about my calcium intake since i stopped taking diary but i do take my multivitamins though.i also forgot to add that i have stopped taking meat also cos i always get constipated and it's not fun at all.am going to be trying out the bentonite clay and psyllium husk shake to clear my system up so that i can flush all the built up toxins, cos maybe they could also be contributing to my acne

Ya know I have been using the drugstore brand scar gel (not even so cheap, mederma is a lot more though) and its working as well as any acne treatment I have used. Its not drying either. I'm a huge picker and leave marks and scabs all the time!!!!! I still wont give up my mario badescu buffering lotion though.

I have acne prone skin as well, and I tried the accutane stuff. I had horrible side effects, so then my dermatologist put me on an anti-biotic but that ended up giving me severe and chronic yeast infections. So now I found this great stuff called blemish guard made by a company called Kal (you can get it at wholefoods or online). Its a supplement that is all-natural and organic. I love it! And for spot treatment I was using the pink lotion by Mario Badescu, which is really expensive. Then I found the company that actually makes the stuff- they are called Professional Solutions and they call it Blemex. It's about half the price if you buy it directly from them. That stuff is the best- I put it on the few pimples I get before I go to bed and the next day they are gone. Sometimes it might take two days. That combination is what's worked best for me, but then again everyone's body is different...

Also make sure that the make-up you're using os not irritating your skins. I like Origins, it's the only one I've found so far that doesn't make me break out

I am also a fan of the Mario Badescu lotion, but its really expensive. I actually found the company that manufactures it for them. They are called Professional Solutions (just google them). They call it Blemex though, but it's the same exact stuff. If you buy it directly from them it's way cheaper!

Hi there,

I'd like to draw your attention to the work of a leading French dermatologist. He recommended that people with acne give up their 'anti-acne' products and do the following.

1. Use a non-acidic soap [they usually use an acid-based soap]

2. Use a non-alcohol based toner [they usually use an alcohol-based toner]

3. Keep out of the sun [they usually do the opposite]

4. Use oily cleansers and moisurizers [They use water-based products]

To sum up, why not try 'SIMPLE' products for example. Their cleanser and toner fit the category above. Use a sun-block for day and cold cream at night.

To see the products simply click on the link below:

Warm regards,
