Apply LIGHTENERS in this order for the BEST RESULTS 2014

Hello SCT!

I never stop looking for info on the efficacy of lightening. Since I prefer to mix my lightening potions and that has worked for me. Sct'ers ask me how I mix some of my products or how I layer them. I apologize in advance,
if theres a thread about this already

I figured I would let you in on some info I discovered a while ago.

While away for the summer, I didn't wanna miss out on any fun at the beach either so I also have some tips, better late than never.

I don't remember what site I got this info from one late night but I screenshot this info.

RULE of THUMB, products get applied in the following sequence

1. Serums

2. Gels

3. Lotions

4.Creams

5. Oils

Make sure you apply enough product to cover the skin. And Always let the product soak into the skin completely before applying another product over it.

AND since I can't be bothered with re applying Sunscreen most of the time try this
For sun protection during the day. And to avoid premature aging and skin darkening ,Go to a sports store or online and grab Sun protective clothing. It should be labeled UPF (ultra violet protection factor) which tells you how effective the clothing shields against the sun. Also labels UVR(ultra violet radiation)

The more vivid the color, the better it will protect you. I hold the fabric up to the sun and if I see a lot of sun rays coming through the fabric, I switch to something with a tighter weft. If you don't wanna spend much find t- shirts etc that are tightly wefted so that sun rays can't get through the fabric as much
Hope this helps Fam, Love DOODOOBROWN

in advance hun! You're awesome for doing this.
Thanks for your input @jodar7

TBH I'm not an avid DiY'er dear..
My starting shade was like a Jay Z / Kerry Washington shade. It took me a year to come up 5 shades, of course I hit bumps along the journey.

My favorite products that I use faithfully are Niacinamide (B3) USP powder. I must have it and I add 2 ounces to my Aveeno lotion
with the stir rod and use it quickly before it oxidizes, it still lightened my body even when it turned a little brown.

Lactic Acid 90% the 40 ounce bottle. and I use that every week or bi weekly with distilled water. I attempted to make a lotion, but it didn't work out to well. I'm not that good at DIYing. I order this products from Lotioncrafters

By the way I mix the all ready made lotions and oils like g&g etc , I didn't mean I make my serums, I use perfecting brightener serum for my face.
I'm afraid to make KJ serum, but look to try it when I have some time.

Weldone Doodoo...love your thread and I've missed you.
.. I've also tried to make a KA serum but just couldn't come up with a proper equation and am scared to mess up my 'hard to get product'....secondly,have you ever tried a lactic acid serum ? I love LA and it really brightens my face and body so quick. My problem however is that I can't apply LA. Lotion on my face; it gives me tiny white pimples , so I was thinking of adding perhaps a teaspoon of LA 88% to my qei+ carrot serum? Does it even make any sense, lol, what do you think ?
Hey nwababy!! thanks and good hearing from you
oh no don't mess the hard to find stuff chile, its so much trouble finding the right stuff for oneself as it is

You know I just play it safe and stick with the light compounds, I got some ph strips, b3 and LA, oh and msm powder, thats about it.
I've never had lactic acid serum, but most of my preferred ready made gels have lactic acid in them already. like CQ, IKB

So the DIY LA soaking I do weekly boosts everything up. I can't apply LA on my face either, just in cq whitening cream. I have used a little LA mix with distilled water in a cotton ball and dabbed on my face but I didn't notice much of nothing.

As far as the 88% LA/ dilute it with distilled water, dab on face with cotton ball patch test it first.

I think it may mess up your qei+ if you mix them together. The acid will break it down, you're better off layering that. And you would have to wait 24hrs anyway so you won't irritate your face.

What did you use in your attempt at making KA serum?

@virginskin1 I cal it a soak because I spray soak LA 90% diluted all over my body( not face) until it dries up then I neutralize with arm & hammer baking soda & rinse it off

@nwababy yes niacinamde in LA lotion is effective, I did that briefly last yr, while experimenting. Nice natural alternative.
I poured some niacinamide in my sea salt bath and it made me flake. I have so much B3 powder I started using it for my baths
@DOODOOBROWN U KNOW Imma have a couple questions guuuuurrllll

1. Seeing that I mix my products all together, r u saying that it would be more effective to layer it?
2. How long would u say that products take to absorb in the skin as I'm heavy handed n I tend to have to wait 30mins + n it STILL be greasy on my skin
3. So r u saying that u prefer a DIY B3 Lotion over LA Lotion?
4. Since I have never done a peel, what % would u suggest starting with bearing in mind that my skin is sensitive.
5. Would u suggest doing in Summer n how often?
6. PLZ if u could can u give a blow by blow description on how u do ur LA peels?
7. What is ur regi in ur recovery time n how long is ur recovery time?

THANK U DOLL
No worries , ask and you shall receive

In answering #1 question Yes, you apply in the order I posted. The product has to absorb completely and this is more effective. as opposed to mixing them all together all at once.
You only need enough product to cover your face thoroughly. Spreading more and more stuff all at once won't make you lighten any faster.

I wait until its totally absorbed into my face, no residue left, my face sucked the serum in.It may take 10 to 15mins. No need to be heavy handed Sammie. or you will clog your pores and the rest of the creams won't be effective at all. If your face is still greasy after 30 mins, thats too much product, you're face isn't absorbing all that, you're wasting it

I like my DIY B3 lotion more so for skin building time. The only LA lotion I use is amlactin. I don't diy LA in my lotions. Some people do though.

Bear in mind the LA 90% that I use never peeled or caused any flaking on my body. However It noticeably brightened my skin in about 3 months. By the 4th month of spraying/soaking myself with 90% LA diluted with Distilled water I was getting light and nice yellow tone to my body. You have to be able to tolerate the LA product, so maybe start with 10% of LA? Idon't know but some people start with 10% to be safe
Everyone can't tolerate a high percentage at first, it feels really weird
I have sensitive skin too. Please patch test on the back of your knee first to see how much you can tolerate!

I shower first, neutralize with arm & hammer baking soda. I apply shea butter vaseline on the OOH WEE areas. You can't be burning up the goodies.
Then I spray the LA 60% from the toes on up, butt area, back, and I don't spray my face but protect with vaseline around the eyes, nose, ears.

I used around 40% = 8 teaspoons( LA 90%) when I first started. I increased the LA a little more as time went on. Currently I soak/spray on 60% LA on my whole body and jump around like a crazy woman until it dries up

It's hard to tolerate all that tingling on my body, but I leave it on until it is DRY. Thats the trick, fan yourself, let a fan dry it off on your body and then neutralize and wash gently, moisturize moisturize!

I've been doing this all year round, I do take breaks for skin building (2 weeks of no exfoliating with scrubs) during that time I may only use amlactin (3 xs a week) after my showers, but no heavy scrubbing. And no LA soaks. When I don't use amlactin I use my DIY B3/ Aveeno

Also if I'm traveling I take this good B3 cream thats not heavy that I've been using called Ponds B3 Clarant, its awesome for skin building and still maintaining your lightness, its 12.99 for the 7.05 oz tub.

What do you mean by my recovery time? I didn't understand your last question babe..

Yaaaaas!! Shout out to the SCT fam & crew

Wait 24 hrs babe then I apply lotions and creams only.
Amlactin you can wait 4 or 5 days since you just did an LA soak. You don't wanna thin your skin. Too much of anything is bad you know?

Could u imagine if U, WB n VS do a thread together n Gymmie chip in as she always does MEHN
I can totally imagine that hahahaaaaa!!
I have some protective UPF running shirts but that is about it. I am not much of a believer in the clothing. My feeling is, if you can see through it, it won't protect you much. As for beach gear...........I wish this outfit was fitting for the Cali beaches.........I wear it in a red hot second if so!!

That outfit is so cute, I agree, if the sun rays get through the garment then its not protecting nothing.

I just hate using SS all over my body, that is so costly

The retina is cream and my lightening cream is mixed with serums and oils and I have la lotion so now in what order please?
The same order still applies monique. You just mixed everything in your cream so the base is a cream.

I layer each separately
