black hair dye?

2014 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Mialexia
im looking for a great jet black hair dye. i recently tried loeal feria black hair color, which is EXACTALLY the color i want. however it has a tendancy to turn all my beige items (towels, shirts, bed sheets) ORANGE. o_O; bah.

even now after 2 months of not dying it, anything beige that comes in contact with my hair while wet will slowly become orange. that one spot on my bed where my head lays most often... my towels... the back of one of my favorite shirts.... oi. lots and lots of discoloration. im afraid i will need to have my hair stripped, even though that can be damaging.

that dye also washes out of my hair very VERY easily. there are now brown streaks in my hair, the tips are entirely washed out so on and so fourth. great color, wouldnt recomend the dye though.

anyone know of a great black hair color that will not turn my sheets orange???

ive tried other colors, but none of them are really that *PURE* black.

Have you tried nice and easy permanent hair colour? They are usually good.
Elijon,

I understand that you may not want to visit a professional hairdresser, but Redken Shades EQ has a very black color that will not color your towels, etc... orange.

I can not recommend anything over-the-counter, because I do not have experience with those colorlines, but Redken (if used with heat) can become permanent color.

I recommend Shades EQ at your local salon.

Also, if you want to to this dark, just keep in mind, it will be rather difficult to go much lighter in the future (if you choose).

Black is the hardest color to remove - most of the time.

Good Luck.

thanks beauty nut, actually my hair is nearly black as it is. its a very dark ash brown. so going black is just a few shades for me, and it washes out completely in about 6 months no matter how permanant the color is.

thanks, if i ever do have the money to get my hair colored professonally (which i would really like) i will keep that in mind.

i decided to go with Garnier soft black, i have done a soft back before and it looks very nice on me. garnier doesnt seem to leave anything orange either so im happy
its not as deep black as i wanted originally, but its a nice color anyway.

i will look at the nice and easy next time i am hair dye shopping, thanks for the suggestion pumi

Elijon,
I'm glad that you found a color that you like and also glad that I could help (in any way).

Keep in mind that permanent color isn't always needed when going darker. For going darker, most prefer demi-permanent colors because they lack the amount of ammonia needed for lightening hair (going from dark brown to lighter brown) when only depositing is required.

The Shades is an ashy Black, and anything that contains ash will deposit a little darker due to the pigmentation. So, maybe check out a Black/ash for a darker color.

Also, applying heat may add to the deposit/darkness.

Please keep us updated.
Hope that I helped in some way!

seems that when i use semi-permenant color it all washes out of the ends and roots of my hair really fast :/ so i have brown ends and brown roots. lol, looks kinda funny. thats why i use the permanant.

there was a color that i really wanted though in a 'long lasting' color that lasts for 26 washes called egyptian plum. i was very hesitant to buy it because it wasnt permanent, however i have never used that brand before so i went with something else. (i really only had enough money for one at the time, other wise i would have experimented)
Thats weird, im blonde and i use Feria in black and i never had this problem, but it does wash out quickly i have to dye my hair every 3weeks if i want a really black effect because it looks brown really quickly but again im blonde so..

but dont use nice and easy black stuff its really too strong and if you want to change color after that even at the salon its gonna be a pain in the a.. and your hair will be really damaged
