I've been seeing a dermatologist for about 3months now for my acne which got really bad. After taking my pills, face washes, and creams. I'm am noticing my pimples are almost gone. I still look like I have acne tho. Due to red spots it has left on my face. My face is smooth and soft but there is red spots all over. I asked my dermatologist about it and she said that she wants to wait till my acne is all gone before she deals with the redness. She said it will have to be cosmetically removed. So in the mean time I'm trying to find something to minimize the redness. Does anyone know of any good creams or makeup that does good on coverage because, my foundation does not cover anything up. I saw an ad for clinique redness solutions instant relief mineral powder has anyone tried it?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Salina,

I heard that visine, applied to a q-tip, and spounged over the redness can help reduce inflammation. You should try it out, it can't hurt.
Thanks for you input. Yea I heard that too I'm just a little skeptical of putting anymore stuff on my face since I like have creams on practically all day perscribed by the dermatologist. Tonight before I put my retin-a on I'll give it a shot. I would really like to know tho if anyone knows of any good coverage for it. Weather it be makeup or any mineral powder like the clinique one I mentioned above.
I have little discolorations and also mainly dark circles, and i found that mineral foundation was the best for me to cover all those - and believe me I tried everything for dark circles - discoloration is v new due to a recent (and thank god once occurence)acne burst, so not that bad - but both dark c and acne redness fade very well whilst looking very natural with a coat of mineral from --- dont think am allowed to say the brand and anyway they probably all the same --- so definitely try it! Mine is v cheap one of the brands you find in supermarkets. As close to your skin tone as possible - no darker definitely.
Good luck hun x

Yes I have tried mineral makeup that is what I use right now and does not cover up much. I've tried one from grocery stores to department stores and nothing seems to work.

Thanks for your help tho.

Thanks so much that did help. I think I will continue to get my acne facials monthly like I have been hopefully that will reduce the redness. I guess I just thought once my acne was gone so was the redness but I'm finding out the hard way that is not true. The dermatologist did say some redness will go away with time so now its a waiting game.

Thanks again fawnie

Good luck! and wear sunblock!!

Dermacover is good at covering about anything you can give it, but it takes practice to feather it so it doesn't look unnatural...

Oh yes I always wear sunblock it is a must never leave home without it. I tried looking online for a Dermacover website but couldn't find it. Where can you get it?
You have what is called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is very common while an acne mark is healing. It will fade over time. You can help the fading by using your retin-A and vit C serum. There are some products that specifically target pigmentation, many include ingredients such as AHA and retinals. One product that comes to mind is skinceuticals' Phyto + (skinceuticals.com/_us/_en/catalog/correct/Phyto.htm) that people seem to have good results with. One thing to keep in mind is not to do too much at once or you could end up irritating your skin even more. It is hard, but sometimes the best thing to do is be patient. You are on the right track, just know that you will see the results that you are looking for!

Thanks Abejita for your input. I am currently using Retin-A but I know that takes awhile to work. So I'll just keep on waiting....
I like a full full full coverage foundation andthen I powder over it. My faves so far:

Estee lauder Double Wear- oil free
Lancome Photogenic Lumessence- also oil free.

Follow with MAC studio fix powder or lancome Dual Finish or any of the powder/foundation types. Every brand makes one. If you brush it on over foundation it wont go on heavy.

Sorry, I meant Dermablend. I've used Smooth Indulgence and can tell you it DOES cover! A little TOO much for my taste - I like my skin to show thru and look a "little" imperfect - but if you're looking for total coverage that isn't masky this works! HTH!

Its really cheap so when you said a little too much for your taste a little more info will be helpful. You also said it covers everything so does it not look natural?
