I'm a 19 yr old male and I can't seem to find the right product for a face wash because I cannot figure out my skin type.

Whenever I wash my face (no matter what the product), my skin is immediately dry after. The kind of dry like when you open and close your mouth you feel the skin around really tight. My skin also gets flaky, and just an overall dry look. This happens to areas all over my face; my forehead, chin, but especially my cheeks and the sides of the nose.

As the day goes on though, my skin starts to get oily (I guess this is natural) but it gets way oilier than other people and my skin starts to get shiny especially at my forehead and sides of the nose. One time I wiped my face with a napkin (the brown recycled type ones) and it got really moist. Also, when I just gently wipe my nose with my finger tips, the oily shine transfers over.

A weird thing that happens is that after a nap, the oily skin seems to accelerate, meaning, after a 30 minute nap my skin gets really oily as compared to being awake for 30 minutes.

Can anyone help in determining what type of skin I have? And if possible, can anyone recommend any products I can get at any supermarket or drug store?

Sounds like combination skin to me. Usually with this skin type your T-Zone is oily -- that is forehead, nose, chin. The rest of your skin should be normal, but how you described the rest of your face sounds dry.

I'd use a mild cleanser for over all your face -- because of the dryness -- and use a toner only on the T-Zone. There are lots of good products out there select one that you are comfortable price-wise. Good luck.

I agree with Mari, sounds like combination skin to me. After cleansing your face, it will tend to feel dry. This is because you have just cleansed away the natural oils. Be sure to follow up with a moisturizer. Your skin still needs moisture even if it tends to be oily.
There are oil mattifying creams on the market which you can apply to the 'T-Zone' during the day to keep the shinyness away.

I would agree with everyone saying that you have combo skin..and something that you should consider is the products you are using on your face..after you cleanse your face..it should never feel dry or tight..what is your skin care routine?
