When im Conditioning my hair, i always only put conditioner on the ends of my hair, not the root, to avoid greasy hair. Will it help my hair grow faster if i condition my scalp? Ive heard a lot about putting oil on the scalp to moisturize the root but i was just wondering. THANKS!!

Never put conditioner on your scalp as it will not only make your hair greasy but also flat and limp. If you want your hair to grow, apply oil to your scalp and not conditioner!

For effective result, apply oil to hair and leave on for at least 1 hr before washing.
Hope this helps.

I have been a hair stylist for 23 years now
and you should only need cond from the ears down that is where the hair is most damaged and old
if you have oily hair a great shampoo for you is Nioxon
(i think im spelling it right)
it will keep your scalp in good cond for optimal hair growth

Pumi: What type(s) of oil would you recommend?

I have a healthy scalp, wash every other day & recently cut off about 6 inches of dry, over-coloured hair. I would love to "fertilize" my head for faster hair growth ; )

I was using olive oil for quite a long time, and always had difficulty washing it out - it was so thick. Then Pumi got me interested in almond oil - she recommends it frequently in her postings as a one of her favorites (do a search to find them). I tried it and love it - since it is thinner it is easier to wash out. I cannot say that it has done anything for my growth, but my hair seems more nourished and so there has been less breakage. Thanks Pumi!

That probably smells divine too!
I'm reading that unrefined organic coconut oil is soothing and cooling and restorative. Almond + coconut sounds like a yummy concoction doesn't it!

Hmmmmmm, hmmmmmm, gooooood! Yes - it seems like I end up eating most of the stuff that I smear on my face and hair these days. The coconut and almond hair mixture would go very nicely with the olive oil and brown sugar face and body scrub, as well as the honey mask that I am doing. Who needs candy when we have all of these sweet goodies to gobble down while we are beautifying ourselves!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeaah!

I got my hands on a jar of Coconut Oil - virgin, cold-pressed, unrefined, and organic - this weekend. Smells like an Almond Joy! So far this oil seems to be working best for getting rid of winter skin - it really plumps it up! It's solid at room temp but quickly liquifies in my hands for spreading.

Wow! Sounds terrific! What is the name of the brand/manufacturer? And where did you find it?

In St Louis, at Whole Foods, there are several brands. I bought "Cheryl's Herbs". Cheryl's Herbs: America's Favorite Herb Store.

MountainRoseHerbs.com has a gallon for $37USD. I paid $12USD for an 8 oz jar, so next time it will be the industrial size 4 shur! Since my house is looking like a lab now anyway....
Great oil's- I do not have the coconut, but I do have Cheryls carrot seed oil

I use it to help with any skin issues that may rise. It is great for muscle/joint aches and pains. After a long run, I will rub it on my feet and any blisters I might have. When I was on Accutane, I used it alot!

I find all kinds of uses for it really-
I also mix it with a few other oils and apply it to my face.

I have a whole foods close, and let me tell you, that place can make one what EVERYTHING in there!! I can be in there for HOURS!!

hey hey..I don't know will it help you grow hair.
But, I usually use more natural ingredients brand for conditioner.
such as L'ocittane, Burts Bees, Paul Michael. These help to improve the hair quality a lot..
