Hey, I'm only a teen 17 years old. I need help with something, let me explain...

I have really dark circles under my eyes, it looks like someone has punched me on both eyes or panda eye like. On the right eye on the side you can see a blueish vein. I never had under eye circles before but have had them for 1-2 years now (it's not genetic) but I dunno what has caused them and how to get rid of them.

What I do:

- I sleep at 5am wake up at 1pm
- Don't exercise much
- Don't get much sun exposure
- Have gained abit of weight during 1-2 years but I'm not overweight or anything
- Spend most time on the computer
- I drink water alot though
- Drink alcohol mostly every weekend

What I have tried to get rid of my bags:

- Cucumbers, spoons, teabags etc...
- Eye cream
- Tried staying away from computer for 3 days
- Tried to sleep early but it's really hard for me cause I can't sleep early!

I've tried all of that but I still got them!

I hope you guys can help me, I dunno what has caused them, I never had it before but why now... I just hope there a way to solve or find out what has caused them and I hope it's not permanent cause I look like a crackhead with them.

Thanks, K.

Sounds a lot like me when I was a vegan!!!

B Vitamins, Honey!

Eat yogurt, complete proteins (eggs, fish, chicken) if you can...along with your fruits and veggies. They all work together. If you do not eat complete proteins, then make sure you are eating nuts (almonds are the best source of B's), soy products, or high protein beans like lentils or kidney beans.

Sounds like you need more lifestyle changes rather than topical skin solutions.
Can I ask... are you particularly stressed right now?
Do you have pale skin or color skin?
Pale sometimes, or just white. But yeh you can say pale.

Yes I'm stressed, stressed that I can't get rid of these bags for so long and stressed how I will look infront of people. That why I wanna get rid of them!
Do you have allergies? nasal congestion, asthma? Do you smoke? Severe stress will cause dark circles too. Some things you can try -- sleep with an extra pillow (if you have nasal congestion); eliminate salt from your diet see if that helps; take Vitamin C & E; think calming thoughts; eat lots of fruit -- well I agree with Katnip's post. Good luck.
Haloxyl and Eyeliss are two ingredients that have been shown to work well in eye serum.
From the description that you have given re: your lifestyle it would seem that you need to remedy your habits to get rid of these circles.
My suggestions are: Drink at least 2 litres of water daily, reduce alcohol consumption, walks in the fresh air, more protein in your diet and vitamin tablets may help. You may also have iron deficiency, get checked by your doctor, a course of iron tablets will help. Also use an eye cream regularly ie at least twice daily.
the web site healthnewsjournal suggests ROC EYE CREAM OR HYDROLYZE I have not tried either one, good luck to you
Brightening highlighter/concealer like lancome flash retouche or YSL touche eclait. Another good one is trish McEvoy eye brightner in "shell" the only color it comes in. Spend some of your alcohol money on a good underye make up! Dark circles are hard to get rid of once you're stuck with em.
Sounds like you could be iron deficient. See your doctor and get a blood test.

I read somewhere that the dark circles are related to iron by-products in the blood that seep into the deep skin layers (under your eyes). The iron (think dark reddish brown) is the thing that results in the dark circles. So, it would seem that adding more iron would only make the problem worse.
Dark circles or eye bags are caused by a lot of things. One of the main cause though is allergy. Have you ruled out allergy or any systemic conditions such as those mentioned above? I think you need to consult your doctor regarding this. Maybe there's a much serious underlying condition which is related to your eyebags. Things like this you cannot compromise as this might lead to much more serious problems.
Hey there

Unfortunately in many cases severe eyebags and dark circles are just the consequence of nothing more serious then unfortunate genetics. You are up early, but if you are getting your eight hours and once you have ruled out anemia at the docs, which is important, your age would suggest to me that you are just a little bit more prone to it then some.

There are lightening creams on the market, which can help but have shown to be damaging to the delicate skin tissues in later life. Your best bet is to learn how to use a great light diffusing concealer. You will almost certainly need a combined colour to get a great match. Apply it over your foundation by patting, not wiping, it into the skin. Stay away from inner rimmed eyeliners and smokey eyes - you will look panda like, dont coat your eyes in tons of creams, do use a good eye cream at bedtime and in the morning (dr zelen is good) and do take your b vits to keep it down.. You can also add a pat of highlighter to the innermost corner of your eye to lighten that area up.!!

You sound like you need an aclohol holiday, good eating and normal sleep hours if you can. I also would try and do an elimination diet. I also get dark circles when I am indoors on the computer getting little sleep. I know this will sound crazy but try a laxative or better yet to fast for a day and then eat only fruits and vegetables. Sinus pressure from computer eye strain and lack of sleep and a sluggish colon all can cause dark circles. Also if you are Greek/Italian or Meditteranean it may be inherited.
Hey Katnip

In addition to reversing your lifestyle. Do stay away from alcohol as it really dehydrates your body and ages your skin. Did you know that for every glass of alcohol you consumed, your liver takes 2 days to clear the toxin? If your liver is unable to clear them in time, the toxin accumulates.

Another possible cause of dark circle is poor blood circulation. Exercise and health supplements may help. Give it a try.
