Vitamin K helps but I don't know if it comes in a capsule otherwise look for an eye cream that has Vit. K in it -- sometimes called menadione.

Dark circles can be heriditary -- look at your family and relatives --if they have dark circles under their eyes it's likely you have inherited that gene.

Some people think they have dark circles under their eyes but it could be a shadow cast by bagginess or loose skin under the eye.

Take the Vit. K orally and give it at least a month to see if there is an improvement. Otherwise I would consider using a light concealer.

Most dark circles are because of allergies. Most people deny they have allergies, but i guarantee if people with dark circles make an appointment to have an allergy test, they will turn up some major results. My parents are both allergist and they own their own office. An allergy test consists of pricking the skin and rubbing different kinds of plant serum. For example, if you are allergic to pine trees, they will prick your skin and rub a pine tree serum on the prick. they will wait a few minutes and if you are allergic to it, then your skin will puff up as a reaction. Allergic symptoms can be minor and you may never feel any real symptoms, but they are definitely a real cause of dark circles. If you go on allergy shots or medicine and do the Vitamin K serum, you should notice a big difference in the appearance of your dark circles.

I checked the Mayo Clinic website and it lists the following causes for dark circles under eyes:
  • allergies
  • atopic dermatitis
  • heredity
  • smoking, drinking
  • nasal conjestion
  • pigmentation irregularities
  • sun exposure
  • thinning skin - loss of fat and collagen
    Remedies:
    • cold compresses
    • use and extra pillow at night
    • extra sleep
    • wear dark/sunglasses
    • clear nasal passages with saline solution
    • cosmetics
    • Vitamins K, C & E

You may find that you fit into one of these conditions.

perhaps i should show a picture? i would assume that being 24 i am too young to get bags that cant be improved with something like vit k.. i notice that the condition does get worse when i do not get a full nights sleep... but even when i do i still have it to a moderate degree.
edit: my family doesnt have dark circles. i am 6ft overweight (220) but i did not start to have these circles until after i moved to stockton about 4 years ago... thoughts?

Apply the vitamin K taken from capsules or take the capsules orally. Note, you need to be patient as results do not show overnight!!
I am in search of these famous capsules too!
Good luck!

I am convinced that nothing topical (except a good highlighter and concealer) will get rid of dark circles and so many things make them even worse like blowing your nose, or sinus infections, not enough sleep. etc!!! UGH! I hate the fact that these companies claim to get rid of them with their usually very expensive product. We have to step up to these companies and tell them to stop taking us for suckers!!!

Have anybody tried the Hylexin brand? It gets very good reviews, even best in test some places. I think the ingredients are vitamin K and an extract from lemon called hesperidine methyl chalcon (maybe extract from citrus in general?). Vitamin K is there to streangthen the cell walls of the capillaries and the hesperidine are to help moving the fluid stuck under the eyes. The dark color is believed to be red blod cells that are "leaking" through the cell walls of the fine capillaries and are accumulating in the fluid surrounding the tissue. For some a good 30 minute walk morning and night could also help.

Caffeine is also used as a de-puffer but some find it too drying. Others have a reaction to the consentration of vitamin K directly on the skin.

These ingredients are availble at much lower prices individually than the expensive brand creams, and can be added to a basic eye cream.
