My 4 year old daughter fell on our driveway and scratched her face. The wound is healing fine. She has a Pool Party to go to this Saturday. I was curious if anyone knew if chlorine from the pool can cause a discoloration of her skin where the wound is? The scratches are superficial. Thank you

I have not heard of cholrine causing discolorations. I would only be worried if the wound actually broke the skin which would allow the chemicals & bacteria in the pool to enter. But if the damage is only on the surface, I don't think it would be a problem. But anytime the skin is damaged, there is always a chance that it will leave a discoloration or scar. It just depends on your genes. You should apply some sort of vitamin E cream or oil on the wound until it heals completley. This will help prevent a scar.

i never liked swimming after i had cut myself badly because the pool water would cause the scab to come off. and then id have to grow a new scab, which ITCHES. i dont think it will affect whether or not the wound leaves a scar though.
