Dry skin is a result of lack of moisture. Therefore, make sure you use creamy cleansers to wash your face. Likewise, use rich moisturizers as well that help to hydrate your skin intensively!
so recommend the brand name if u know?thnx 4 the response.
Isha if you dry skin its just a question of trial of error with products! Dr Hauschka does dry skin products, earth essential, clarins do some nice products too! You want to try to get a thick moisturizer with not too many chemicals and drink lots of water, no alchol as this will de hydrate you etc! Celex C hydra b5 can be moisturizing for skin too!

Everyone skin is different so what works for one person may not work for another but personally i foudn clinique creams not thick enough for my dry skin!

Carrier Oils may be good for you to try something like rose oil and avocado are good for dry skin!

Go on www.makeupalley.com for reviews if you want!
Also try looking at Biotherm products these are meant to be good for dry skin too! Im just trying out there moisturzer myself at the mo!

try using Squalane or Emu oil after you moisturize it will give you added moisture and works well. I alternate between the 2 myself.

...and to piggyback onto these great suggestions...always apply moisturizer and/or oil on damp skin to seal the moisture in. I like to spritz my skin with Avene Thermal Water spray before applying my products (and after my C serum).

So you put your C serum on, then spritz? doesn't that dilute the potency of the serum? just wondering ...........

So the thermal water clog up the pores?

I was gonna buy one ages ago to use with the oils as also noticed the roche posay does one but however i noticed on makeup alley that some people said this clogged up their pores so hence why never used one!
Also Yoghurt and Honey masks are great for dryness and also Raw eggs and honey masks are good too! However getting your skin soft and supple takes time and patience to acheive so dont give up just stick to a routine and you will get there eventually! Aso drink 2 litres of water and have as much raw fruit and veg as you can, make sure they are all differnt in colour too as this will also help with hydration! If you go into your local healthfood store you could prob just buy a tub of hyaluronic serum and just use a good thick moisturizer with that!
Dr Obaji's theory is that moisturizers should not be used every day since they make the skin become complacent and quit producing its own natural moisturizers. Here's an interesting post from "vanberge" @EDS Forum:

"I was remembering what Dr. Obagi had said. It's not that the cream/oil is dehydrating, it's that the skin becomes complacent in producing its own oil.

I can also imagine that the skin becomes oil-loaded and un-exfoliated with continuous use of moisturizers. Thus skin acts dry on the surface from dead skin cells sticking together and not shedding as they should. "

Any thoughts?

Not sure I agree with that theory. I have always had oily skin -- even though now it's pretty well limited to my T-Zone -- I do use moisturizers morning and evening but have a pretty rigorous regime of washing my face twice a day, exfoliating once or twice a week and when I remember using a mask -- sometimes in hot, humid weather I don't moisturize -- no difference in oil production. Well, I'm not the expert! just musing.

Thanks for the tips IluvNY, it was time for my evening snack and I mixed yorghurt and honey and put some on my face (that the kind I like ALL natural) I even got the organic yoghurt, I've been bicycling 2 hours this afternoon, and even with my sunscreen 30 SPF my face was kind of red, and I do recall that yoghurt is good for sun burns, I should do this more often!

That makes sense. I guess the gist is: don't overmoisturize dry skin, and don't overdry oily skin. I wonder how much he got for that *no duh* theory?!

Mariepop no prob i also put lemon in my yoghurt masks to get rid of any spots that may occur or any damage on the skin! Also clay masks with some tea tree oil drops are great too!

What im wondering is though if someone like me does not moisturzie what am i meant to do? Obviously i want to my skin to be soft as poss but how else is this acheived cause surely if i dont do this my skin will end up very wrinkly otherwise!

Oh im getting worried now

Mari aren't we all expert when it comes to our own skin? hihihi Especially after years of using tons of products, I certainly know what I don't want on my skin !

IluvNY, I have tried white clay and it dries my skin, I'm guessing it's good for oily skin.
My BF had never used any lotion, cream on his face, and I was always bothering him to put at least Vitamine E, his skin is sooooo dry but doesn't bother him (more me) I said: I don't know how you can stand the dryness! and last month he has finally put my vitamine E, and his skin seems less wrinkles and now he uses it everyday!
I dont use white clay my one is green got about 5 packs of this from avon before they stop selling, i dont find it drying though on my dry skin though, everyone skin is different though!

Almond oil though also has vit e in it which i use, i think with me its more of a medical issue why i have such dry skin and need spk with my doctor bout this,so far not a lot working, long term! Thanks for the tip though, i might think bout getting sep vit e serum too, just dont want to put too much on face either!
Has anyone here tried origans products think they might be better than botherms they are full of vit and min too but is this a thick enough for the oh so dry skin prob! Um i wonder!
