I've been pondering on this for a while, I know a few people that do it everyday, others never, whilst I tend to exfoliate once or twice a week. I have just started skin brushing everyday and wonder what you guys think about skin brushing and how often you should exfoliate?
Look forward to reading your views.

I exfoliate with a facecloth everytime I take a bath or shower (that means everyday) it works as well as those wash body lotion with scrub in it. Those wash body lotion with scrubs in it are made for those who don't use facecloth. So it can be costly to exfoliate with fancy smelling scrubs to compare with a facecloth. I always say: What is wrong with the good old face cloth? Ppl don't use it anymore? and what I'm saying here was from a specialist who was on "the views".

Dry brushing also helps with cellulite..there is a method to it though. I believe you need to rinse/wash with hot water (as hot as you can stand it) followed by cold (as cold as you can stand it) then hot again with cold...for three cycles. Great health benefits to dry brushing..especially if you use essential oils after drying ( damp skin works best) to moisturizer your skin.

Dry-brushing the body not only helps with exfoliation but improves lymphatic flow and circulation to the skin! Nice.
Explain this dry brushing-
and what kind of brush?

Well, a long handled natural bristle brush used dry to brush the skin from the toes upward toward the heart in long strokes is what I do.

The Dry Brushing Technique
It feels good and makes your skin glow!

Oh goodness this is really going to add to my daily rituals-

Hey what about facial exercises???? You doing those yet????
No, not yet-
I know I know I am lagging. I spend most of my mornings and afternoon driving to the gym-
then on my route back home of course I have to stop off at certain stores. Because once I am home, I hate going back out. The joys of living so far from town......not!

Then when I do get in I have to of course check in with you all to see what excitement I have missed during the day-

I will start them, sooner than later. How about you? How are you doing with them. Last I heard you were taking a break.

No not every day rat, maybe 2 times a week! And I only do the facial exercises every other day. Facial massage I do every day. You can also drybrush your face with something like a baby's hair brush - DHC makes a natural bristle drybrush for the face too.

Oops! There I go acting like a Know-it-All again

I LOVE know it alls-

I have a baby hair brush. Do you think the DHC is a better quality though? Probably made just for this purpose?

Try it! DHC's brush has stiffer outer bristles and softer inner ones (in a circle) so it is kinda stiff at first until you get used to it. Maybe a baby brush would be a good way to start out. It would feel good anyway!

Hi Ely,

I've found it to be very helpful, especially if your skin tends to be a little dry. Not just the face, also the body needs exfoliating especialy the "rougher" parts like elbows and knees. Also not bad for cellulite. I reccomend dead sea products for this (my favorites!!), they have real salt in them and a lot of good naturla minerals. I use this one, you can only get it online though but its worth it! Gentle Scrubbing Mask | Facial Care | Store4Beauty

good luck!

Thanks everyone for all the useful info.Having read the article posted by Fawnie I'm beginning to think that if you dry skin brush everyday there really is no need to use other products to exfoliate in the shower....what do you guys think? Also I know that it's off topic but I'm also doing the rebounder coutesey of Redrose and Peri giving me a programme and I feel that the combo of dry skinbrushing and this type of exercise together are certainly detoxifying...quick tip without sharing too much info...feeling a little constipated...get on the rebounder...problem solved!!!

Once in awhile to detox I have a bath with epsom salts and then slather on lots of coconut oil afterwards...and it really does make you feel cleaner and somewhat purer.

I'm definitely going to do the three cycles of hot and cold water too..thanks Toni

Funny that this was posted because I was just thinking about asking everyone what they do to exfoliate their body. Does anyone use an exfoliating lotion for their body? I'd think that would be easier and quicker than dry brushing (although I understand you don't gain the same health benefits). Does anyone know of a good exfoliating body lotion? Preferable a light one because I hate lotions in the summer. I have had trouble finding one that actually works because of the whole pH thing. Companies never tell you what the pH is!!!
