Hello there. My name is Lawrence and I am in New Zealand in the south pacific.

My mother has had this problem for almost a year now. It started with wearing latex gloves as she developed an alergy and as far as we know she contracted staphylococcal. Her hands were basically very itchy, sore, these puss like things would come up and would be extremely painful. She would be constantly popping these puss things and peeling the loose skin off of her hands. We believe that the infection is gone now as the pustules are not showing up anymore. However, now her hands are in this continuous cycle of the skin peeling off and im talking about thick layers here. they peel off, leave a rough raw patch and before they heal properly they just peel and peel. She has also been getting these outbreaks of what appears to be eczema and its happening more often all over her body. We have been to doctors and skin specialists but noone has been able to help.

Please if you can give any advice at all it would be very much appreciated. Its just getting harder for her by the day. Its really sad.

thank you

I have also just taken some photos of my mothers hands before she had yet another peeling session and cream session. basically the skin just peels at will and if she doesnt trim or cut off the hanging bits of skin they dry up and go sharp.

I am trying to put links to photos of my mums hands up here but I have to post over 15 posts first apparently.. please go to this webpage where I have put them all up.

thanks guys.

Wow, I looked at the pictures and they look pretty rough.

I think you should take her to the dermatologist since the advice on this or any forum can be way off and possibly cause more damage than good.

I'm really sorry for your mom's condition. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be for her. You've got to keep looking for a dermatologist who can solve this issue. It may involve a trip to Australia or somewhere else if there's nobody in NZ who can help.

Yea thanks. We have been to specialists (they call themselves) and they are just no help at all. Most doctors are pretty useless and currently the doctor my mum has been seeing is a kiwi chinese man who has been helpful.

I am wondering if the heat (it has been very hot here lately) has aggrivated the condition recently. Also my mum ate half a big bar of cadbury chocolate last night and today her hands are not too bad but she has these red welts and patches on her face, arms and body. Women tend to love chocolate and so does my mum of course, but I am wondering if the chocolate has contributed to this flare up this morning from eating chocolate last night.

I will keep you guys up to date with whats going on. She is basically doing everything she can to manage this problem. Any alternative ideas and any advice will be great so thank you for that.
