Hi all,

This is my first post. I recently went to see a clincial estetican (sp?) about redness on my face and neck. I assumed it was sun damage. I was hoping she would have some suggestion/treatments to tone it down. It was a very interesting discussion.

I left only with a tube of Obagi 35spf sunscreen. She feels that I do have sun damage but that some of the redness is a histamine reaction to UV light. I never heard of such a thing but googling around it appears it may be true. I've been using the sunscreen for a week and it does appear to have had an impact. Nothing earth shattering but I can some of the redness softening up. I go back to see her in a month and we start working on phase 2 (exfoliation).

Does anyone know of any other reasons for skin redness? What did you do?

Rosacea can cause redness. There's a forum about that here. Someone there ought to be able to help you. Good luck!

I'm not convinced it is rosacea but it could be. I think it's mostly sun damage from decades of never using sun screen. Shame on me.
