Neostrata contains glycolic acid which may cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with darker skin individuals. It is important to use a good sunblock like what Freddy said to reduce the incidence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

THe Neo Strata HQ+ is the one I'm using & getting great results from. They do not bullshit you with flashy websites & racist ads that try to make you feel ashamed of yourself. You MUST use a quality sunscreen every time you go out of doors (or if you sit near windows). Ombrelle or La Roche Posay (more expensive) make great ones. I use the ombrelle. Many people loose patience with these gradual products as results are not instant. THe Neo Strata HQ+ recommends waiting 12 weeks before gauging your results. After that long, if you are not satisfied, discontinue use. Results depend on many factors such as your own skin's renewal rate, your overall health & lifestyle. Even your climate plays a role. My darker spots were my knucles, wrists, beneath my cheekbones & my neck. After 2 weeks, this problem is gone!

The Neo Strata HQ4% + Glycolic acid worked fantastically for me, but it says right in the instructions to avoid the sun & use a strong sunscreen to avoid repigmentation. Brownskin, if your pigmented spots returned, perhaps you forgot to use a good sunscreen. Good luch & let us know what works for you.
