Since your in the UK, I can give a few suggestions. Try and get a combination of 4% HQ and 0.5% retin-A from dermatica (its an online service) for your face. For your body, look into lactic acid chemical peels first before using HQ. Skin&me is a similar service but not sure if they are also offering HQ, its a high chance.

For dark under eyes, get a vitamin C serum. Geek & Gorgeous is the best in EU or try to get timeless vitamin C. Use it all over the face under sunscreen in the AM. The retin-A and HQ will also help. You can even look into the revolution 15% niacinamide serum.

Get a high UVA-PF sunscreen. P20 for kids spf 50+ is currently one of the top here in the UK & EU especially for the price range. Look into it and you'll be surprised.
Thank you, very interesting sites! I have never used those kinds of 'specialised/professional' services to get skin lightening creams. TBH it's a little out of my comfort zone the whole consultation thing but I may have to give it a try. Regarding the other stuff I already got that covered ( I make my own Vit C, I have loads of Retin A and I use badger clear zinc sunscreen).

On another note, I forgot how vital lactic acid was. I was hoping not to start up with it again as it made my skin over soft and delicate. But I do now remember I got better results with it, I used to use one that had both Kojic and LA mixed together. I am currently using AHA soap so I might see how this goes first. Thank you @PhoenixCharm2018 this was helpful and feels to be the safer route.

I need help with My DIY Kojic acid lotion. I purchased the powder and mixed with the lotion, and to my surprise It oxidized a week later. I believe it has since it turned yellow? im not sure. anyways it went from white to beige to yellow. How do I stop my lotion from oxidizing? I searched the forum and there are lots of questions but i couldnt really pinpoint an answer.

Kojic is unstable so it’s almost unavoidable. Next time you can try kojic dipalmitate - the stabilized form of kojic that doesn’t oxidize.

Thank you for getting back to me. Should I just mix it with any lotion or cream, what do you suggest?

I also found outside my comfort zone at first but all you do is fill out your info and upload a few pictures with your concerns, and that's it! you can message them and let them know what you want as well.

yeah lactic acid is great, I miss doing my peels. you've just inspired me to go back to them.

is HQ, retin A and LA peel 3x a week enough to remove my suntan and get a little lighter?
Yes, as long as you are using sunscreen and avoiding the sun. Make sure you have a good moisturising routine as well to combat negative drying effects of retin-A.
You can even incorporate a good vitamin C serum in the AM under your sunscreen.
You should see noticeable results with this routine in under 2 months.

Look at doing your own LA peels. Every 10 days is enough. Stop retin-A 3 days before and 2-3 days after a peel. Starting at 20% is ideal and slowly working you way to 40 or 50%. You can work your way up to 60% for your body but it does depend on your skin type. I recommend sticking to 40%, honestly. Do LA peels for your face and whole body.

When you use Retin-A, wait 30 mins to an hour at least then apply HQ.

You need a solid sun protection routine and avoidance to avoid reverse hyperpigmentation. I don't know your skin tone but if you have black skin, do not use HQ for longer than 3 months. You can find something else to maintain. Try to use a European sunscreen with a high PPD / UVA-PF that is tinted. The tint will also provide blue light protection and minimise tanning.

DO A LOT OF RESEARCH FIRST BEFORE DOING AN LA PEEL SO YOU DON'T BURN YOURSELF!

Hey beautiful folk,

It is possible and / or safe to mix kojic acid powder 4% and lactic acid powder 10% in the same base to apply at night? (intended base - glycerine / distilled water 🤔)

Note: I use 0.025 tret daily, so this will be after 30 mins of applying tret

Similarly, can i mix vitamin c powder and kojic acid powder 10% together to apply in the morning?

I will be using 40% lactic acid peel (made from powder again with distilled water) once a week on weekends too. Thinking of applying on lips to fade dark edges as well.

I'm looking to replace my HQ 4% nightly routine with kojic, since i have significant lightening and PIH reduction (closer to 6 mos) already and will maintain and improve for a paler kojic look vs the HQ high yellow look.

Appreciate any input!

Just wondered, has there been any evidence that long term use of hydroquinone specifically causes stretch marks OR skin thinning? I know there are risks of darkened skin (ochronosis) and irritation but wondering about the skin thinning side effect. I haven't seen any data to show it may cause skin thinning or stretch marks, so if anyone knows anything about this, feel free to respond.

I know that mercury and steroids can cause skin thinning and stretch marks (amongst other and more serious side effects), but I'm wondering about HQ specifically.

I don't have any scientific proof about if HQ causes stretch marks but skin thinning causes stretch marks and most of the soaps and lotions we use or with HQ has some acids in them that cause skin thinning - which then causes stretch marks. hence why skin building is important if you are lightening your skin.
other factors include genetics (some people are just going to have stretch marks whether they lighten or not), and weight gain.

then, of course, lightening steroid creams will definitely give stretch marks cos it thins the skin in a very short time. the stretch marks I have on my upper arms and thighs are due to a steroid cream I used a long time ago (I was ignorant and new into skin lightening). it gave me stretch marks within a month!

If you need to ask a Quick Question about Skin Lightening Products, etc Post it Here:)

This thread could be useful for someone that needs to ask a question about skin lightening instead of making a new thread. And if you know the answer you could quote their question and answer it for them. I hope this is making sense.LOL
Hi what natural skin lighteners and brands can I used to lighten my feet and hands and knuckles? I feel they are problem areas for me

I think the sodium hydroxide in the soaps cause skin thinning, especially with the high % in lightening soaps. AHA's like lactic or glycolic acid aren't supposed to cause skin thinning though. I just need to find out if HQ on its own can cause skin thinning. I have been using it longer than 3 months with great results and no side effects so far.

what skin building ingredients do you recommend / have worked for you?

Hey, does anyone know if they still make the clear and smooth cream with the green lid. I had good results with that years ago.

also does anyone know any good sellers for nadinola that ship to the uk?

Any other recommendations for a good HQ cream I can use on my face? TIA
