Obviously i have no wrinkles or anything but i was told by a few people starting anti aging products now would help in the long term so i did. That was about a year or so ago and obviously with me having no wrinkles to start with i cant see a difference but will it make a difference or is it just a 'myth' as they say.

those people wanted to sell you something for sure. No reason to start now hunny, you might end up with cancer!

I don't think it's a good idea. You should "chill" with the products. They're not designed for your skin type and skin condition.

It's like using anti-acne products when you're 12 because you might hit puberty soon and don't want to get pimples.

If anything, you'll find that you'll get clogged pores and might even break out since products designed for older skin are more rich and thicker than products designed for people your age.
Cancer oh lordy! why on earth would i end up with cancer??????

and freddy, the help is appreciated and all but id rather you wasnt taking digs at me?!

Its only the microdermabrasion home kit that is anti ageing anyway no creams or anything. I was thinking about getting a cream though so i wont bother. Especially if ill get cancer :s
Start using a quality sunscreen everday. Best anti-aging advise I can give you at your age. Any age for that matter.
You won't get cancer with microdermabrasion home kits, but to be honest with you they won't do anything for your skin. Professional Microdermabrasion only has a certain level of effectiveness, much less home kits that are done with battery or manual powered instruments.
I have to agree with periwinkle that the best anti-aging thing you can use is sunscreen with at least SPF 40 every single day sunny or not, and moisturise. You simply don't need all the ingredients in anti-aging products they are for skin that has lost it's elasticity. Save your money and stick to a simple cleansing and moisturising routine then use the sunscreen there are many on the market but Clinique has a good one Cityblock you might try, this is safe to use on the eye area.
What a graet question! Anti aging products at 17...a marketing persons dream! I sell anti aging products professionally but not to 17 year olds with textbook picture perfect skin. rather I educate them on care of their skin like a few simple coments above. Use sunscreen every day, especially on the nose. If your out in the sun, reapply frequently enough to ensure that it hasn't lost effectiveness. Drink fluids daily. Make sure you are getting all the utrients you need from your eating habits. If not than supplement (BIG topic here which many different opinions exist.)
I wouldn't suggest microdermabrasion either. There is very little, if any, evidence that microdermabrasion stimulates collagen formation. Microdermabrasion is great for acne, scars, general pigmentation blotching when done periodically.

The loss of the ability to form new collagen or maintain its "connectiveness via proteins" is what causes wrinkles and the aged look so many of us have. You'd better served using a product that stimulates collagen....BUT you should not need it at 17 unless something else medically is happening with you.

I'd suggest daily cleansing routines followed by moisturizing. The best thing you've done for yourself is recognize at the inteligent age of 17 that your going to look wrinkled when you get older by doing things now if you don't prevent it.

Best of luck

I know of a product you can use at any age and it restores the quality of your skin to help protect against uv rays and photoageing.

Its known as restorelite and it is a portable hand held device, I was talking about this earlier to some one else on here, its brilliant. I bought my mum it and she has never stopped using it, she has sensitive skin and theres not many things she can use to be honest

I agree, a good sunscreen is much more important at this age especially when teenagers are baking their skin under the hot summer sun 12 hours a day. As the hole in the ozone gets bigger and bigger, more and more UV radiation will reach the skin, this will enhance the formation of skin cancer later in life.
You are too young to be using that stuff. Just protect your skin from the sun (by using sunscreen or sunblock), moisturize, practice good hygeine, and take care of your health, and you should be okay.

Worry about anti-aging when you're in your 40's.
Some skin care ingredients that are promoted as anti aging can be usefull for young skin too. Anti-oxidants will protect against UV damage something that is much the same at the age of 17 as at 67. For example Green tea extract will protect both against UV radiation and help keep your pores from getting clogged. At 17 skin is very resilient and will quickly bounce back from all most any stress it has been exposed to, still some substances can be useful to help recover from skin conditions that has left marks, like acne scarring, any type of scarring really. These ingredients include rose hip oil, omega 3 oils, different peptides, some of the vitamin B's, anti oxitads like that of green tea, tomato, sea weed extracts. These are also heavily promoted as anti-wrinkle agents. The theory is that nurishing skin from the outside gives the skin more to work with and aids all its normal functions. There are luckily very few ingredients that are suspeced of causing cancer, and most of them are used as preservatives. There are no good reasong why a 40 year old should be exposed to more possible carsinogens than a 17 year old. Though I admit that the most invasive procedures to combat wrinkles and sagging skin are on the risky side.

This is quite an old post but however I have to say that if you want benefits of green tea etc just drink it and take vitamin supplements, you only need basic skin at a young age and personally im still not conviced that even at an older age you need such strong potions so to speak on your skin, if you live well this will show on your face at any age!

NY - I agree! And I'd much rather have smiling lines from being happy than lines from frowning too much!

I've not used one, but it seems to me that you'd want the silk casing on the outside of the pillow next to your face. The point is probably to lessen friction, and so pulling, on the skin of the face while you sleep. If so, then putting the silk casing underneath the normal pillow cover would defeat the purpose of even having the silk casing, in my opinion.
Thanks mirecka i never thought of it liked that one, just thought id give one a go see if it helps with any if those morning creases, especially the way that i fidget in the night!

Hi NY,

Can u pls tell me where u bought ur silk pillow? I get loads of creases on me face 2 due to bad my sleeping habits!
Thanks
I'm 30 and lucky not to use any, but i have pretty good skin.
i think you need to just watch your diet, stay out of the sun(wear a good sunscreen) and drink plenty of water each day with a drop of lemon juice and your skin will stay healthy and young just like mine is
