Does anyone know what she used to get so light?? i've seen someone post somethign about how darker African Americans can't expect to get any more than 1-2 shades lighter (on another board) and that made me lose confidence but then I remembered Lil Kim who's like 2 or more shades darker than I am who got extremely light.

She didn't use Mono because I just recently saw her at the MTV Music Awards and she was a few shades darker meaning she's using some sort of skin lightener becase skin lighteneres aren't permanent (unlike mono) and she probably didn't have time to maintain her color iin jail.

PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Yea I heard about that on another site. I thought I was the only one and half paranoid/seeing things when I noticed her difference in skin tones. I thought it was the lighting and makeup but a lot of celebrities do that for some reason so I'm kinda use to it now.
Forgot to say: A while back on tv or either the magazine (can't remember which) and she admitted to getting the surgery and having some kind of body dismorphic disorder or something like that. That was so long ago I can't remember clearly...

Doesn't mean it doesn't look bad!

I wonder if there are any health repercussions to lightening your skin like that? I mean how is it possible? Do they use something to lighten the pigment or what? I wonder if ultra violet light is used? I'm stumped.
Most likely some type of bleaching cream or some other bleaching agent.
But...., since none of us know, we should go ask the expert themself:
Michael Jackson! He kows all about that stuff! Sorry thriller fans! Lol!
I just think it looks plain wierd/horrendous!

It has been so long since I've read about this, but yes, in some cultures where they desire to achieve a fairly extreme degree of skin lightening, they do things to themselves that can be bad for one's health. Unfortunately, I no longer recall the details.
there are prescription drugs that will "whiten" the skin. its mainly used for people with virtiligo. they dont lighten the skin. regular skin lighteners inhibit pigment production which is not permanent. but these drugs kills the cells that produce pigment and this tends to be permanent. skin lightening to this degree is very dangerouse. forget about the effects of the drugs on your liver and the cancer risks the drugs alone may cause.when your body stops producing pigments you burn almost immediately. you dont tan. you put herself at a much higher risk of skin cancer. not good at all.

I have read on the internet of some people bleaching parts of their anus! i can't imagine that! Why would anybody in their right mind do that?

I thought only porn stars do that. Well I guess nobody likes a brown ring around the poo hole.
That is just too much information!

As for lil kim, she could be using Obagi Nu Derm. A costly system available by prescription from dermatologists & plastic surgeons. It actually works to even & lighten skin BUT will not, for instance, make a black person ghost white like Benoquin did to MJ. this is a system I intend to try myself.
