New Here! Skin Problem Help

Hi, I am new to this website! I don't know if this is where I should post this question but I will do it anyways. I used to have really bad acne when I was about 13 or 14. It has since gone away and sometimes I break out but not really, just usually a pimple here and there. About half a month ago, I moved into a new apartment and I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I have been broken out since I moved in here! I don't know what is going on but my skin looks worse than it has in awhile, and I don't know what the problem is? I know this is very vague but I have no idea why this is happening, someone brought up that maybe it's the water here? Any help would be appreciated, thanks! - Lindsey

New cosmetics? Different water? Hormonal changes? Sensitivities or allergies to laundry detergent, foods products? Did you go on or off the birth control pill or start any medications? So frustrating. I still breakout and it doesnt seem like I will ever have flawless skin like some people so I sympathize. Get some sulfur masks and salicylic acid products. DON'T PICK. (I wish I could take my own advice!)

Good luck.

Hmm no new cosmetics or allergies or anything, but yes, different water! Oh no, one thing I can't do anything about
i'll just have to get some new skin care products I guess like you said! Good thing I just started working at a place that has everything I need!
Thanks for your help!

You can get a water and shower filter to help with the water.
If you are lucky, it could be caused by the stress of moving and a different environment. This shows up on the skin about two weeks after the change. There is a good chance that you skin will clear up just as soon as you adjust to your new place.

Great idea! And you need less soap and shampoo with them, so it stands to reason your body would benefit!! Chlorine in city water is badbadbad and we inhale it every time we shower!!!

Sephora sells the Johnathon water filter which gets high marks. And Bed Bath and Beyond sells a so-so Wellness filter. Here is a link to a comparison:

Thanks everybody! I will definitely look into the filter suggestion, I noticed my water is kind of cloudy? So I would definitely like to get something like that. And that is a good chart! Also, maybe it was from stress because I was very stressed out for the first couple weeks! I am settling in well now though so maybe it will start going away!
There's good days and bad days with it haha

Okay, so I got a filter for the faucet on my ******* sink (which is where I wash my face since my other sink doesn't produce warm water...) and the good news is that my face appears to be clearing up! Stupid water... Next up, I am gonna get that shower filter! The water here is so incredibly gross and cloudy, I don't know why, I've even considered moving and I've only lived here for a month =(

That's great news!! Good tip, Freddy! Now I bet you'll think twice about drinking that water, huh? Where do yu live anyway?? hahhaa

Yeah, I don't think cloudy water is exactly the best base for skin care.
Nope, not at all haha. And no, I definitely won't be drinking that water unless I have the filter on!
I had the same problem when I moved to New York. The air quality and water are just poor and I broke out badly. I tried a lot of products and so far only Neutrogena's Skin ID has worked. I've been using it for 5 days, and it seems to do the trick. Message me if you have any questions about it.
