Hi

I am a new member to the site and live in London. Would love to hear from anybody who has done the Abagi system.

Am using tretinoin gel 0.025 % half gm per day.
Am two and half weeks in. My face is red very dry and peeling, not too itchy or sore. Look worse than i did before starting.

How long will the dried up prune phase last? Don't want to compromise the results. Am prepared to persevere!

Any info welcome

Thank you

Welcome- and as Periwinkle said, persevere, you will be glad you did! With most things you apply to your skin, it gets worse before it gets better. In time you will start to see the underlining results!! Hang in there-

I used it. It's expensive. I paid $400USD for the entire system a few years ago. I decided I could do the Retin-A, Vit C serum and sunscreen combo on my own a lot cheaper. I don't like using HQ or kojic acid on my skin for lightening spots - the vit C serum works fine for me. But some ppl swear by it.

Hello! I've been on Retin A for decades due to a congenital, incurable skin disease that is so serious it can even be fatal or eventually cause leukemia. What might help the rawness is to make certain you apply the Retin A (I have to use both strengths depending on what allergens I've been subjected to) at night only and VERY IMPORTANT be certain to let your face dry completely after your evening washing. Blot your skin dry as usual and then wait at least 30 minutes before applying the Retin A (tretinoin). I do hope this helps. When my skin feels just a bit raw, I give it a break for one night and apply the most soothing moisturizer I own. It is an olive oil based product that is specifically for "stressed skin." It is available on HSN (a home shopping network in the States). The brand is Serious Skin Care or something like that. Have no fear. The olive oil for one night doesn't cause any blemishes and doesn't smell like olive oil--delicate fragrance that is pleasant. I do hope this helps, Angus! Oh, before I forget, my girlfriend was advised by her doctor to use Retin A every other night. Perhaps that is what you should do for the next two weeks. You may never be able to "ramp up" to nightly use. Me? My skin has always been very oily. Perhaps that is why I can tolerate even the full-strength (0.05%). Best wishes to you and all my beloved Londoners! Say a prayer for me at St. Clement Dane and go stompin' at the Savoy for me, darling!

I too am a new member and live in London.
I'm on the obagi system and i peeled like crazy the first month even though I'm a seasoned Retin A user. I've since found that using the system every other day and applying a really good moisturiser helps with the redness and peeling.
I only use the clear, blender and exfoderm + their 20% vit c as the DIY vitamin c doesn't seem to work for me

Do persevere, it will get better and it will be worth it in the end

Hi All

I am a UK lady using the Obagi Nuderm system with 0.1% tretonin ......my face is so so so so red.... what can I do to lessen this - I can cope with the tight feeling and peeling but not looking like a sunburnt tomato .... my face looks orange, like bad fake tan and then flares red, stays red and then flushed. sometimes it can flare up burning hot in the afternoons.
Today I have felt so low, sick and depressed.
I hated my face prior to start Obagi as I had marked pigmentation over my forehead, top lip and sides of face and a little over my cheeks. Currently I hate my face even more now as it is so red, you can't hide it, I cant cover it up.... my neck and rest of my body is white and then my face super red you can see a line that goes all the way around the edge.
Any help advice or support is welcomed .... I am so low don't know what to do .I cant go into hiding as I am working for the next 10 days solid, my work colleques are aware of my new skin routine but still its very embarasssing talking face to face....I am dreading anyone coming to the door! Help please before I quit - Thank you

Haya. am sorry about the way yu are feeling with obagi. i can tell you, i almost quit after 1 week. i hated my face so much. am using the clear, blender, sunfader , tretinoin .05% and instead of the exfoderm, am using glytone step 3( stopped using this afte a few days) the peeling especially around the mouth is so appalling and i use heliocare spf 50 in addition to the sunfader. But guess what ???? its like 2 and half weeks i started and my skin is getting so much better. i am a black girl of african descent and i was quite worried hoe i will look but i stuck with it and even though i dont really face the public, my crew members have asked me to take a holiday thinking am stressed( i am a pilot and the sun really hits hard in the cockpit). i cant wait to see the end result, honestly.i have pcos so my case of ingrown hair has reduced so much and the scar of shaving has lightened. i will send you a before and after pic that have been taking on my phone. stick with it and see how it goes in a few weeks. NOTE: i still peel around the mouth but my forehead has NOT peeled at all buy i have lightend like 4 shades in less than 3 weeks.i cant wait for the acne sars to improve. will be starting skinlight on my body because the fair and flawless did not work AT ALL on me.x you can reduce your tretinoin to .05% too. i also reside in UK

I got mine from my local beauty salon but now I get it from a registered clinic I am too afraid of getting fakes on the internet x I am on day 18 and loving the results - still rosey red, but not flaming red, but huge visible improvements x The don't quit attitude is so hard as the last 18 days have been so tough
