Hi dee, I had both of the treatments you are considering.I had hormonal and sun aggrivated pigment and had tried everything before resorting to the lasers as it is quite expensive.A dermatologist did 3 ipl treatments 1st to treat the surface sun damage and break up the pigment to leave behind just the smaller deeper marks. The ipl worked minimally as most of my pigment was deep and hormonal, the derm used this ipl result to decide that the pixel would be more effective. ipl was just like a ping against the skin and hardly any after problems,i then continued with fortnightly pixel laser of which i think i had about 6 treatments. After this my skin felt sore which went away by the next day and it then dried out and flaked over about 6 days, but the treatment itself wasn't any worse than the ipl.It was a very slow and progressive result and got rid of 90% of my pigment.you do need to be patient for results. It is now 6 months since my last treatment and my pigment has remained gone,i noticed bigger improvments about 4 months after my last treatment as my skin has renewed itself over time, and my pores are a lot better too.The first few sessions i was dissappointed at 1st as i think i had too high expectations,i expected results much quicker but am sure everyone responds differently,if you have the money and patience,it can be v.effective.Good luck!
