I thought proactive was overpriced benzoyl peroxid that just burned the hell out of my skin. I would never use it again. Some of have good results though, I have sensitive skin so I didn't do good with it.

Sometimes people have a hard time with Proactiv. But The doctors did create a new more sensitive (better working for my sister) product that contains botanicals. It also uses a sulfur base and has a 60 day money back guarantee.

please let me know if you have any questions

Well, to their credit I do remember their sulfur mask being really nice. Never tried their new formula, but I guess that goes to show that the problem with reacting with skin was more than isolated.

Barbara66 Thanks for asking the question I want answers to. I see it so much that I'm tempted to trying it. I get kind of skeptical to try it tho because they have so many celebrities on their commericals. Which makes me think how much are they paying them for their endorsement or does it work?

I know what you mean. It seems to me that Proactiv spends most of their money hiring celebrities instead of putting it towards research and development.

Alot of my friends that tried Proactiv had good things to say about it. But i tried it myself, and it didn't really help me out much with my acne. It all just depends on your skin type, and acne type, and all that stuff.. so everybody's skin is different

I also think this line is garbage!! I hate it when the commercials come on, I just want to scream!! They make it sounds so great, like it's a miracle or something. Well, I tried the whole like, even had the mask and the spot treatment, and the body wash stuff. I was on it for a like 5 months and nothing. I am still searching for that miracle treatment.

Yeah Shreky, I feel the same way. The system worked for me for a few months and then my face started to get really dry and irritated. Which can happen with any product but it is frustrating because they market it so cleverly. It seems like EVERYONE else is having these wonderful results, including celebs, so you must not be doing something right if its not working for you...

It is amazing how many people buy into the celebrities and the infomercials. Years ago, I, myself, thought it must be the miracle cure because of all the hype.

My biggest criticism of ProActiv is not so much the product but the marketing strategies that they use to target and manipulate a specific population. There are other acne products that work as well if not better for the average person and don't use nearly the same degree of misleading tactics as the ProActiv team.

What do you think is the best acne line of cosmetics? Proactive seems to have an enormous budget for advertising. I haven't tried it although I've been tempted to. I can get sucked into a good sales pitch.

I used proactive in high school and it worked!!
I tried every drug store cleanser, toner, creme, scrub...everything! All I got was irritation until I gave in to those commercials and tried proactive and it worked very quickly.
I know now that there are two types of active ingredients in acne cleansers: salsylic acid or benzol peroxide. The active ingredient in proactive is benzol peroxide.
Anyway now I use a gentle cleanser and a tube of 2% benzol peroxide for spot treatment. This is just as effective and costs much less. I still credit proactive for getting my face back to normal.
I don't know if this is still true with the new formula but watch out because proactive changed the color of most of my face towels!!

Proactive, and any other product with BP will stain clothing.

How bad was your acne? I've heard of great results for people who had moderate to severe acne. Luckily the worse I've had was a bit of congestion and random pimples. I just got the hell burned out of my face. Good to see that it worked for you though. You definately have tough skin.

I have had some luck with Proactiv but I have to alternate using their face wash with another kind of face wash a few days a week. I have found that this keeps my breakouts to a minimum. The problem I've found with only using the Proactiv face wash is that it drys my skin out really bad.
