Hi. I hope I can get some help, I've been meaning to post on a forum like this for months!

About 1 year ago I got a tattoo on my thigh. Everything was healing nicely, and one night as I was sleeping i scratched it, as it was itching hence the heeling, and made a couple of small red cuts, which were very minor, but right next to the cuts small very small and itchy rash was showing 2 days latter. I thought it was nothing and went to a CVS, explained the situation which was a very very dumb move, and they suggested me some special bandaids to put on and keep for 4-5 days and let it heal like that. I did so, and after a couple of days as I was taking these bandaids out most of the skin came off with it and i noticed infection and went to the ER immedietly. They told me it was something like Cellulitis which they said is very treateble, gave me some antiobiotics covered it up and sent me on my way. Everything went down, but in the course of that month I got 2 boils, one which went away after antibiotics and another after they made an incision. Mind you, they were very small but a pain in the butt. It's been 6 months, they told me after they cut the last one that it would be so the bacteria would leave and so it did cause I had no problems any more. Been a year. So I have a couple of questions, how do I get rid off the purple marks left on my thigh (in 2 places) and 1 on my hip. They just don't look natural and I would like to remove it as it is on my tattoo which doesn't add to it at all. I hate it to be honest and would be very gratefull for any advice. Also, am I safe to get another tattoo? Since I have had many cuts and scratches to my skin because of my work environment I haven't had any problems and was told by my doctor that my body has beaten the infection, but to allways be carefull as in stay extra clean which I have been doing. So I would be very thankfull to know how to get rid off the purple marks, or as in how to turn that part of the skin back to being whitish again instead of purple.
Thank you very much

Is the skin raised and thick where it is purple? Or is the skin flat?
Umm 2 are like that 2 are just spots. the ones that are raised are the bigger ones and when i put pressure on it the skin turns to normal color as soon as the pressure goes off it turns back purple. its weird....
Arnica gel might work for the flat purple spots.
i dunno about that arnica gel stuff. ive heard its used for bruises swelling this and that and everytime i used it it didn't do anything to speed up the proccess until the body heeled by itself. i will try tho don't have any pics though. i thought this is a common thing??? any other suggestions?
i actually have arnicare, is that the same thing??
Does it have arnica montana in it? Check the ingredients. Arnica is good for bruising but it is also good for burst capillaries and like other wounds that lie underneath the top layer of skin.

Arnica - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
wow yes it does have arnica montana in it. i put it on and had it for like 2 hrs and left and forgot and looked back and it lookes much whiter but then again i'm not so sure my eyes might be messing with me. so this is underneath the skin? can plastic surgery cure this? ill update on the arnica thing, that is, if anyone cares, lol... i don't know how this forum works, but i appreciate all the help very much.

and it feels flatter too but then again its a very small bump so it's hard to tell... i dont know guess ill see in a day or two...
keep massaging 3x a day. It should continue to lighten over 10 days. Then break from using it for a week. Continue again for 10 days. Keep alternating.
so it is a slow proccess huh? i was thinking of taking a gauze dipping it in arnica and putting it on over night. and maybe once a day...?
ok so you know about this?? keep massaging it, what does arnica have to do with that though? i'm sorry i'm a little confused i appreciate your help very much.
since arnica works to help wounds that lie underneath the skin, it does not help for arnica to sit on top of the skin. It is not an anti-bacterial cream. It's an anti-inflammatory. It needs to be lightly massaged to penetrate the skin's surface.
are you sure that this will help? i mean its been one day but i'm not sure if i see any difference...
thanks...
I'm not sure b/c I am not a doctor and I haven't seen your spots but I do know that arnica will not hurt you. It's worth trying.

well that doesn't help me much since it is just a wild guess, i thought that i'd get some facts, save time seeing a dermatologist...
I was trying to work out the timing of the onset of the rash after your tattoo. Occasionally if the procedure is not well performed ie the needle or environment is not clean, bacteria may settle at the time of the procedure. this may result in frequent infection and not to mention disrupting your beautiful tattoo. If you are serious about getting a new one, i would recommend a different tattoo artist if the sterility of the procedure is in question.

The purple maybe a hypertrophic scar or even a keloid. you will need to consult a doctor. Hope it helps

That's not really my issue. Offcourse I will go to a diff place (but I'm pretty sure I did this to myself) because that was in a dif state anyways... I don't even live there anymore. I would just like to know how to fade the purple scars back to being white, as in what type of lotion/cream product to use... or is plastic surgery my only option lol.
